Cell Phone Suggestions other than iPhone 5?

To get the best browsing experience you would want to download another browser besides the stock one. Opinions on a music player are a bit more subjective. To me the addition of an EQ slider instead of presets does not make a better player.

I'm not attempting to bash android simply pointing out the the OP that if you want the best 'out of box' experience for core functionality without the need to download additional apps iOS would be the better choice.

PS- Chrome on iOS wont be faster than safari. You must know that....

Software? So, how does the Google Play Music suck? It runs smoothly since day one for me...just like Apple's. In fact, with the playlist from iTunes, it plays all of iTunes music with appropriate playlists just like if I had my iPhone. What are you talking about? I understand if you critic Play Store, but critiquing the music player is absurd! Apple music player is prettier, but Google Music player has more USEFUL features. And yes, controllable bass enhancement (if so choose) and equalizer are useful. In fact, with my bass heavy Klipsch S4, I am actually using the equalizer to get better highs. I would NOT be able to do this on my iPhone.

Feel free to give your personal experience with Google Music player and point out how Apple is better. I am interested.

As for browser, Android allows you to disable the stock browser completely and use Chrome (or any browser of your choosing) as default for everything. In other words, once a browser is chosen, email links (for example) goes to that browser of choice. So, it works just like native browser. And based on benchmarks, Safari is no longer #1 in speed, regardless of platform.

JD, how about navigation? To get the best navigation experience on Apple, what app do you use?

Like I said, unfortunately for you, you don't know much about Android to really do a compare at this point. I am on both sides dude. What you wrote borders on being ridiculous and shows your lack of understanding of the OS.

Your statement applies to BOTH platforms. To get the best browser, Android needs Chrome. Fine. To get the best navigation, Apple needs Google Maps. Get it? Or how about a Gmail user? They need GMAIL app rather than Apple stock email client. How is this hard for you to understand?

Now, as for your attempt to BS, the Apple Music app has pre-determined "boost" or "reducer". For example, if you want to boost Treble, then Apple gives your Treble Boost. The problem with this is that you canNOT adjust how much boost it gives...so, sometimes, the boost feature is too much or too little.

Google Music player allows you to ADJUST THE AMOUNT of boost or reducer...as well as the different equalizer adjustments. Geez JD, how much do I have to spell it out for you??!!

What you wrote/said is wrong and bias. That is the plain truth dude. You don't know jack about Android yet still talk about it. I understand that you like Apple...me too! I still plan on owning an iPhone...probably iPhone 6. But, at the very least, JD, you need to make EDUCATED statements. That is all I am asking.

I posted like two sentences about things which to a certain degree are subjective. I just chose not to create ANOTHER ios vs android debate. I didn't appreciate the combative, hostile and condescending replies. Everything either side could say has already been debated to death somewhere on the internet. I dont think anyone is going to change their minds and the OP has already made his decision. Why continue with this non sense?

I have a name! But I indeed have already made my decision. I'm happy so far. But that's because there's zero learning curve moving from a 4 AND I'm actually getting 4g speed, which has already been nice.

BTW, mike, i am a huge Apple fan...and, secondarily, an Android fan. See my past iPhone 5 threads and recently Note 2 Review thread. Unfortunately, some of the fanboys from either side have zero experience with the competition and tend to talk about it without much understanding.

Why is it cheaper for you to stick with TMo? Although Straight Talk requires an initial investment (buying phone at MSRP), it may be cheaper in the long haul because ST is unlimited and uses the ATT network.

To a certain degree? No, what you wrote originally in this thread is WRONG. No matter how much you backtrack, your original post fails.

Especially if the "core" apps are most important to you. They are all excellent on iPhone and "just work" without the need to seek out and download more third party software to get your phone working the way u want it.

iMaps does not "just work"...it fails. Thus, most (if not all) iPhone owners seek 3rd party navigation software. The Apple email app does not support PUSH for a lot of email clients out there, including Gmail. Thus, Gmail users have to get 3rd party apps. It all depends on user's needs.

Now, you can say that iMaps or Apple email app works good enough for most people. Ok, well, the stock apps that comes with Android phones also work good enough. But, there are better options out there sometimes...for both platforms. Get it? Please do NOT be like Koz! Open up your mind.

Yep. No need in switching for what I need. More trouble than it's worth. There's only one area I'd like to get service if I could, but the only one with a tower in that area is Verizon.

I'm not really sure what else do you want a stock music player app to do besides...play music?

However, I do have to say that the apple's "shuffling" algorithm does seem to perform better at randomizing your playlist.

Thanks to JD, i tried the Samsung Music player for the first time yesterday...this came with the phone (along with Google Play Music). Wow, Samsung player is excellent! It even has more features than Google app (and way more than Apple's)! It has this CLARITY adjustment that really works well! The built-in equalizer is more detailed than Google's. In addition, it is prettier than Google's app...almost on par with Apple's music player.

As for JD, don't worry about him...he makes up stuff. He "read" some negative reviews...yeah, i am sure that i can find some negative stuff about Apple too on their forums. It is still darn funny that he avoids NAVIGATION Apple talk like the plaque! He is like Koz on the Android side...just talk out of his arse for the sake of making an argument.
