You can always go with the Hella horns. Easy to install and mount to factory location. Not nearly as loud as air horns though.

I had some Ebay "Truck" horns from Russia (suspiciously 12v though)

They are pretty long as you can see and make a decent noise without sounding too high pitched, as many air horns do...

Only video of sound I have is when sneaking up being the girlfriend and honking when she was refuelling... and if I post that on the internet i'll never hear the end of it....

Unfortunately I'm going to have to move these as want to add twin oil coolers, and a condenser fan :(

I think somewhere there is a thread about using late model ford horns,

I even think they were plug n play

Do people these days not recognize Hella Supertones or something? They seem like one of those mods everyone has at least seen on one car or another.

Oh come on...give some slack. :playball:

Red for race series right?

Wouldn't have asked if I knew what they were.

Yes, I have seen them but never committed to memory what they were. The 4Runner is the first vehicle I've owned in 35+ years of owning vehicles with a puss horn in it, so there has never been a need for looking at what others have.

Believe it or not, I'm sure there's someone out there who has NEVER seen them before.

Everyone knows red is the fastest color. Plus, I didn't feel like painting them like the other guy that posted them did. Coming from Subarus before this, Supertones are such a common mod that you're more likely than not to see them.

After trying several different horn setups, because they're just so cheap, I eventually settled on the Supertones also. The deciding factor? They have a highly irritating sound, just very very obnoxious. However, they are also very attention-getting, unlike the other options I had tried. Sorry for horrible photo!

i went with the hella supertones as well, my only complaint is that they just sound like really load rally car horns, not truck horns. They get the job done so i havent been motivated enough to find something less car sounding.

I went with some cheap horns from Harbor freight. They were on sale $10 for the pair. Hellas are only 4db louder than these
and when your talking both brands over 100db, 4db is not that much of a difference

I do like supertones and had them on several past cars

I installed some 97 Lexus es 300 horns on mine. My main motivation was to get rid of the feminine beep sounding stock horn. These horns are definitely not beep beep sounding. Plug and play, no modification needed, had to reorient the mounts is all. Purchased on ebay but junkyard would be good too. I made a quick video, of course the video doesn't quite sound like real life but I like it and am glad I made the switch.
