There have been several posts over the past few years on "jerky" or "chattering" left or right windows. Basically what happens when you engage the switch to either power the window up or down your window will stutter during this operation until it is in it's desired position.
As many of you know, my location got quite a bit of snow over the last few days and along with colder temperatures my left (drivers) window exhibited this condition.
The Cause:
The window guide (located at the top of the main body of the door) and/or the track (located on the B pillar side - toward the back of the window) has dust or debris embedded in it and this, combined with moisture causes "stiction" during operation. This will cause your window to be "jerky" during normal operation.
The Fix:
1. Roll down your window completely
2. Dampen a thin cloth rag with normal tap water. Rubbing alchohol can be used for a extra good job.
3. Throughly clean both the rubber guide/wiper located on top of the door body. This is the piece that your window comes in contact with as it ascends/descends. It has a portion that is outside and inside the vehicle. Clean it multiple times where it comes in contact with the window.
4. Using the same rag, clean the track located on the "B" pillar. You might have to use something thin such as a wooden paint paddle or putty knife inside the cloth to clean this component correctly. Clean it the entire depth of the track.
That's it! Your window should roll up and down normally. If it still exhibits jerky operation then you could have something else wrong and need to take it to the shop. Chances are that your track is just dirty though and a good cleaning will take care of the issue. Good luck!
