Here ya go its a 3.0 turbo diesel 1997 SSR-X with 81k klms on her awaiting a 2' suspension lift. Let me know what yea think.
Its a jap import ive got it here in Ireland

that is one awesome looking 4runner! the front bumper is great. what exactly is that above the rear view? ive never seen anything like it. but really, that is a sweet ride.:cool:

Thats the optional Field Monitor it shows
temps in Celcius or Fahrenheit
Direction (ie. compass)
Angle the truck is sitting
and hectoPascals (air pressure)

Always love the JDM Surfs and your's is no exception but the front bumper piece ,which is the precursor to our "fatlip" bumper on the "99-"02s,does look a bit out of place like it was thought of at the last minute.

I'm very jealous of your info center on your upper console.
 
I wish I had your engine, the 3.0lt turbo is great offroad. Also want the side turn signals just in front of the doors, actually I wish all american vehicles had those. Loose the little mirror on the front though, it just tells the world you're bad at parking!! ;)
Hows the price of diesel in Ireland these days?
 
Wow, your paying ALOT more for petrol (and diesel) than we do! Converting into US$ and gallons, you are paying about $6.14 per gallon..... I filled up this morning for $2.79.
Since your rig is a grey import, do you still have much stuff like labels and warning stickers that are written in Japanese? A mate of mine in Australia had a grey import '94 Surf and the stereo only covered the japanese radio bands and all the labels were in japanese.
 
Pretty cool. What kind of HP does the turbo diesel put out? Wouldn't mind modding my 4Runner with one of those monitors.
 
Man, I wish there were diesel versions available here. I'd be all over that. How is the fuel economy for that sweet rig? It is a 6 cylinder, right?
 
I plan to own a Hilux Frunner one of these days on down the road, I just think a little lift and my wheels and tires would set one off something special, not to mention I'd say the diesel has a little more umf behind it than the ol v6
 
I was always told that there are not too many mid size Diesels in the U.S. because U.S. diesel fuel is too dirty. VW, BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, Honda... all have diesel cars all over the world but here in the US.

I wonder if that's the truth or if it's as simple as "Americans won't buy diesels".
 
I have always heard that the reason many diesel powered foreign vehicles don't make it into the US, is b/c of the strict emission laws enforced by the US.
 
Well im getting anywhere between 25-28 miles per gallon
average 600klms to a full tank.

ive a 2 inch lift kit ready to be installed but the crap irish weather here is stopping me.

over here ive only seen one petrol surf for sale there all diesel.

i think there a 4 cylinder unit.

Euro laws are now stricter than the US and yet 60+% of their vehicles sold are diesel.

Well, guess whatever I heard was wrong then.

I wonder what the real story behind all this is then...
 
Diesel cars historically have never been big sellers in the US and the same has been for small trucks too.
