Chinese led lights

My buddy bought an aurora light bar a while ago. I saw it last night and thought man that's pretty good. He didn't pay a lot for it, especially compared to rigid, vision x, and Baja design. So... Does anyone have experience with the Chinese led lights? I know I know all the aforementioned good ones are better, I just have trouble justifying that kind of money for a light.

I just installed an "Engo" (aka. cheap Chinese) 30" Double Row light bar behind my grill. Like almost everything else, you get what you pay for. The lens technology, casing, wiring, etc. on the high dollar brands are going to be far superior. Also, I have read many cases where the color fades away to a gold color on the casing when exposed to sunlight.

So, if you are not going to absolutely depend on it (running Baja), you don't mind if you eventually have to rattle can the exterior, and you don't mind lower quality parts(wiring/mounts), get it. I can tell you the light output is about the same as other brands from what I have seen. They are definitely bright.

Built shoddily and will deteriorate at temperature extremes (-10 to 110).

Salt will also tear them to bits.

I have a 20 and 30 inch Hanmar. The anodizing has turned gold, and the mounts leave a bit to be desired, but for 90% of the performance at <50% of the cost, for a non-critical part, I think they are a good value.

This. I've installed two 20" Chinese LED light bars on my 5th Gen with good results so far. How long will they last, who knows? I know they are bright and assist in off road travel. As with anything made in China, it all has to do with quality control (QC). Toyota builds the Camry, Corolla, Yaris, Crown, Reiz, RAV4, and Vios at various plants in China and I'm sure the QC is just as strenuous as the Camrys and other models built in the US.

The aurora's are not easy to get but have heard and read on multiple sites that they are on par with rigid. So much so, that rigid tried suing them....Hence the difficulty in getting one.

Before I got a great deal on my 40" rigid, I considered buying an Aurora. Only problem was they weren't willing to ship me just one. Had to buy a lot of 10.

I haven't looked into getting lights, but I'll be honest, the Chinese manufactured lights would be my approach. There are some people on here who depend on these lights day in and day out. For those, the Ridgids etc. would be the right choice.

In my case, if I ever did build up the 4Runner, I would get these primarily for the looks and the occasional use. I know I will never get the chance to do 10% of what some of our extreme offroaders do, but for a fraction of the cost, it can play the part of a capable off road machine that is just designated as a mall crawler. Plus the light bars look better than those yellow smiley face KC Lights.

Found these light bars (Seward Offroad | LED Lights for Offroad and Marine )price is about what the Chinese ones are and they say they are engineered and manufactured in the USA. I might check them out. They have a Curved two row 40 inch bar @ $489.

So that is my other question. Do you do a 20" and two 10" and kick the 10s out a bit, or is the curved 40" the way to go?

I've heard good things about the Tuff LEDs from local Jeep and FJ guys. I just ordered some. I'm not expecting them to be as good as the high-end stuff but then again, they're cheap enough to replace if they break. :shrug:

I'm running Rigid Industries on my sand car (20" 2row bar & 2-3x3's) and love them.
On my truck, I couldn't see spending that kind of money knowing that it wouldn't get as much use as the sand car lighting so I went with the Cree 20" singlr row bar. This thing puts out plenty of light and then some! The Cree is a bit more expensive than the China stuff on e-bay but build quality is good and they are still 1/2 the price of the RI lights.
I'm considering a 50" Cree for the roof on the sand car just for shits...:roll:

Haven't been on here much since I sold my 4Runner, but my brother is on here occasionally with his 5th Gen ... Trail Slayer

I have importing lights from Aurora for almost 2yrs and can vouge for their quality as well as performance. I have also held in my hand lights from ToughLight, Hanma, Totron, DM4x4, Sanmak as well as a few other manufacturers and Aurora is the best in my opinion, albeit at a premium for a "Chinese" light bar.

The new models all have improved optics that clears them from the lawsuit with Rigid.

Something I've seen from Aurora that I haven't from other companies is they are now offering a 40w cube light... same size housing as the Rigid Dually and D2, and they offer that light in a spot, flood and diffused lense.

I can also get anything from the other manufacturers as well as the "red ring" HIDs ... I typically order those with a black ring, and 4300k so they are a purer white in 55w instead of 35w and they are silly bright.

Let me know if there is something specific you guys are looking for?
