So I'm 90% sure I'm going to buy a savage rear bumper. I'm not sure how much I could sell my stock one for ($75?) . I'm probably going to make another thread about what paint to use. I'm either thinking satin black or maybe that hammered rustoleum stuff. The can lid looks cool, but I've never used it.

I'm also 100% sure I'm going to order some 4xinnovations sliders very soon. Tennessee Off Road is going to charge me $100 to weld them on. I want them to be similar to my dad's demello bolt ons.

I'm also going to paint my wheels satin black in the near future (hopefully before I go off to college)

Today, I'm getting time longer bolts for my custom front bumper thingy. I painted it satin black Sunday, so it should ready to go!

I got a fresh coat of paint on my exhaust and frame. I need to go over the frame again to get the spots I missed.

I got my front end finished yesterday. It is 1/8" thick 1.5"x 3" steel tubing. I just need to put another coat of paint in the OEM bumper.

I allllmost got the Savage rear bumper too. Waited too long and they discontinued making the ones with the tire carrier because they're working on a new design. Some of the 4Runner guys around here have them, I liked the look. I did get their skids for the 99 on a group buy. Seems people paint the panel behind the bumper wings black to hide the air vent on the left side. That looks pretty good too, to me.

Adam at 4xInnovations was great to deal with. I'd buy from them again.

Satin black. I originally did the sliders and skids on the 96 in the hammered black. A little shinier. A tad more texture. Not quite as cool as the lid makes you think it's gonna be. Redid everything in satin black later on. I just liked the look better. Then again, my wheels are silver. I'm not having a matching/clashing thing to think about.

Well, I have decided to save my money. Buying a bumper that i don't NEED is kind of silly. The stock one blacked out looks decent and I haven't hit anything yet since i did the hitch flip. I will probably get one if I bang up my stock one too much lol.



I have also decided to get the Savage Offroad sliders instead of the 4X because they have less things for the welder to screw up. They also look beefier. I will paint them satin black, thanks Habanero!

We adjusted my headlights tonight and tested the cheap eBay CREE LED pods.

That makes the most sense. The only reason I got a rear bumper was for the spare carrier for the 33, I need my cargo space,.......the hitch has saved my butt many a time. The hubby, without a lift, did mangle one of his bumper wings. I think he was angling for a bumper too, don't you?

Colors....you gotta do what feels good to you.

I have successfully changed the rear sway bar bushings and the steering rack bushings. I snapped a stud on one of the front sway bar mounts, so I need to drill it out and put a bolt in.

I also am getting new brake rotors sometime. I was thinking Brembo blanks... Any opinions on those?

I put Brembo Blanks on the 96 when my stock rotors warped, in 2005. They lasted a bit. After those warped I drove them a while more and then I did the Tundra brakes in 2010. I'm kinda hard on the brakes.
Make sure your rears are adjusted.

So I've done more research on the Brembos and they are now made in China

I am getting OEM Toyota ones! I got a new passenger side caliper b/c one of the pistons is frozen. They will both soon be painted red! I'm going to paint the top hats on the new rotors black before they rust.

I'm also wiring up my LED lights tomorrow. I got the relay in last weekend and have some pictures. I also made all my wiring look better

I'm going to have 2 floods and 2 spots with separate switches.

My new subwoofer! It is a sound ordinance 8" 125 watt slim. It just barely sticks out the back of the seat. Sounds great too!

Of course I had to snap off a stud for the front swaybar. I am also going to try and get warranty replacements of my crap duralast end links.

They were a pain to bolt up, but it was worth it! They are so bright! I also have them wired to only be on with the high beams on. I need to get a double pole-double throw switch to make a manual override for other uses.

Last, but not least, I have new OEM rotors and pads. I also got a O'Reilly's rebuilt caliper for the passenger side since one of the pistons was frozen.

(painted the calipers, hubs, frame, control arms, dust shields, and rotor top hats)




I just need to bleed the brakes one more time, put the wheels on, and bed the brakes in!

Chuckles brakes are awesome now! The urethane bushings have really improved the ride too.

There is still a weird clunk though :brushteeth:

Awesome!

Clunk? When......? Sometimes I make the kid rock the steering wheel back and forth, key off, steering wheel unlocked, brake set with strict instructions not to squish me. Then I look for wiggling and listen.
If it's not that kind of clunk (like the bad panhard bar bushing) that involves getting somebody to wiggle the truck while I chase the sound and look for the wiggle.
You guys have prolly already been there, done that.

The clunk is something in the driveline. It sometimes happen when you start off, stop, or go from forward to reverse (and vice versa).

There is also a strange vibration on the interstate (70 MPH) that goes away when you press the throttle hard (like going up a rise).
