Clear Bra pics

Thought some of you would like to see what a clear bra would look like on Titanium Metalic. It was done at the same time I got my front windows tinted at T&T Tinting here in Honolulu. They use Llumar, the makers of FormulaOne tint. It came with the standard lifetime guarantee for peeling, bubling, yellowing, etc. As you can see from the pics, being able to see it is dependant on look angle. They said it will be one month until it is fully curred. These pictures were at one week after spending about 4 hours washing and then waxing with Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax. This wax is awesome! And so are my aching muscles!

howzit kailua, you'll love the clear bra. I had mine installed in '02, and almost 4 years later, still looks great, no yellowing, peeling at all....a few nicks in it - but guess it did its job as it didn't scratch the paint:) nice ride by the way!

Thanks, 02. Your testimony is support for the reason I got it.
I mentioned in another thread that I regret not getting it on my IS250. It is Blue Onyx Pearl which is a dark blue and you can see small chips and nicks on the hood that would have most definitely been avoided had I gotten a clear bra. Definitely worth the investment.
 
Thanks for posting pictures up! I'm surprised it covers so far up the hood and side of the car.

My next car will definately get a clear bra, it's too late for my 4Runner.
 
hey that's pretty cool! i should have gotten that chit done when I first brought my 4R instead of gotten a bra I dont barley use!. how much did that cost install??

It is removeable but not reaplicable. While I was getting mine done, they were taking the bra off of a car that was getting a fender replaced due to an accident. It peeled right off the area that wasn't damaged with no harm to the paint. I was surprised. I was told that the bra had been on that car for 18 months.

For the bumper, grill, hood, fenders and mirrors, it cost $690. I thought it was a little expensive but here in Hawaii there isn't another place to go. There are many places here that have monopolies because of our location. Sucks!

HOLY CHIT $690!!!!!!!!!!! I TROUGH MAYBE IT WAS AROUND $150 FOR THE SET UNINSTALL!.
 
i dont get it? say you own your truck for 3-5 years, wont it look stupid when you take it off and there is brand new paint on it and then 3-5 year old paint on the rest? wont there be a solid line there? Is it suppose to be like old people covering furniture in plastic?

yea Im sure the clear bra has a UV protection so that it dont turn yellow but if its blocking the paint from the front when you go to take it off said after 2 to3 year the rest of the 4r will had faded in and the part where the clear bra been on will look new and you would definitely see the fading on the hood. it will look like tan lines. tan lines are sexy on a hood of a chick that is!:D
 
ive had mine on for almost 4 years now. the film hasn't yellowed or cracked. havent removed it but as far as i can tell, paint underneath looks ok..can't tell the amount of oxidation between covered and uncovered sections.....guess will see what it looks like whenver the time comes to remove/replace it. it's done a great job at protecting the front.

ok, lets start at the beggining. The purpose of this clear bra is to protect the front of your 4runner. Its clear because obviously you dont like the black ones. I'm just not sure the reasoning behind putting it on to protect the paint but the bra will get the damage instead. If you never take it off, wheres the satisfaction in it doing its job? And if it never yellows(your paint will age) then it will still be the original color while the rest of your 4runner is ageing, again, not sure of the reasoning there. I understand that it is suppose to preserve your paint and all, i guess my point is, what about the rest of your 4runner??

Most of the damage that comes from flying debris that chips or scratches paint off the vehicle will not damage the bra. It is made of a thick, pliable material that is not brittle like the vehicle's paint. As far as fading, todays car manufacturers incorporate UV protection into their paint process. How good this incorporated protection is or how long it will last is another debate.
I just know that I don't have this on my Blue Onyx Pearl IS250 and wish I did. There are so many tiny chips and scratches on the front of that car. I think vehicle paint isn't as strong as it used to be.
Anyway, since you wanted to "start at the begining," I got it, am happy with it, and wouldn' change my mind if I had the choice again.
If you don't want it, don't get it.
 
i don't think "paint fade" will be that drastic (although i do have a light color) i just put a coat of wax over it when doing the whole truck. my 94 is peppered with chips on the front (granted it's 12 years old) but my 02 has no nicks at all.
check out this vid and you can decide for yourselves if it's "worth it"...i say yes:D

ok after that valid point and the fact that i didnt know that it was made out of that, ill give you that benefit which is deffinitely possitive. My dads avalon was horrible with paint chips on the front edge of his hood.

I wasnt trying to start anything just was curious why you wanted to spend that money.
