closing in on lifting my TE kdss, couple Qs

just getting back to focusing on a lift again after a busy spring!

I'm set on the radflo lift with the 600lb up front springs and TC UCAs with BFG TA KO2 285-70r17s

Feels that this setup will work very well with my kdss AND allow for the proper alignment so the steering is not twitchy and more "stock" dialed in. This is a deal breaker for any setup where the camber/castor is shot = must drive great on the road!!!

I've spent some time researching lower, upper, and tracbar for the rear. Most of the shops I've talked to say that for the 2-3" lift (ie radflo) that the rear links and trac bar are not going to do anything for the geometry (something like 7/16th of an inch difference) and simply are stronger and the joints/bushing allow for slightly better articulation.

I'm on the fence between not getting them, getting the metaltech (chromoly) or sonora steel (dom tubing) as they have different weights, bushings, etc.

Any suggestions?

Additionally, one thing I really have not seen / investigated are the sway bar links. I havent really seen any, nor do I dont what compatibility issues there could be with the kdss setup.

If the rear is 2" higher, that sway bar is going to be forced down that much more with stock sway links...

thoughts?

thanks!

KDSS does not have traditional style sway bar links. The ends are mounted directly to the axle housing in bushings. This is because the piston does not locate the sway bar like a traditional bushing mount would. To add links to the ends, you'd need to add a 3rd link with a bushing near the kdss piston to locate the bar fore and aft. Not terribly hard to do - but you're unlikely to find a bolt on kit that does it. The alternative is some type of bracket relocation on the axle, but neither seems necessary from what I've seen. I have not lifted mine.

good luck

2" Lift with KDSS

You are overthinking it for a 2" lift.

Is this even possible 1Engineer? :noidea:

OP, Here's a link to a recent thread on lifting with KDSS. If you haven't seen it already, you may want to read it now.

I'm glad you asked this question and posted your ideas. I'll be doing the same thing in a couple of months when my new T4R TE with KDSS comes in. I just placed an order for it today! :high5:

A 2" lift requires no additional piece to work with the KDSS. The panhard works just fine. Some people have the KDSS and panhard making some contact, mine does, but it's not that bat and is at full drop on drivers side. Also I am running MT long travel rear, as well. You'll be fine.

thanks all!

I'd rather overthink now while its on pavement than figure it out in the dirt :-)

any thoughts on the metaltech vs sonora lower links (bushing styles, tube styles)?
