Snowy21's Lifted, Locked and Armored Build Thread

Way late to jump on this bandwagon but everyone else is doing it so...on to the rig.

2002 SR5 that my family bought new in 2001 and became my driver when I was 16. The goal was to build a simple, capable and reliable rig that is my DD and wheeler with over 275k on the clock

Tires/Wheels/Suspension:
-OME 883 coils up front
-Mystery OME shocks in back with 8 wraps
-No sway bars
-285/75-16 Hankook Dynapro MT's
-Mystery American Racing wheels
-All Pro diff drop

Trail Improvements:
-Rear Spartan Locker
-4XInnovations tube front bumper
-4XInnovations plate rear bumper
-4XInnovations sliders
-Angle iron reinforced lower links
-Andy Mod (ABS/TRAC/VSC disable switch)
-Cobra 18 WX-ST II and 4' Firestik

Future:
-Homemade belly skids
-Custom rear upper links

Made an addition based off a few rigs on here that have reported positive results from having these hoops. I'd really like to save my glass as long as I can before I have to put polycarb in as a replacement

The bumper is a work of art inside with all the bracing and such, should have grabbed a picture of it.

I really like the Hankook's still, wearing awesome and holding up great aired way down on the trails

I had Adam at 4xInnovations bend them up before I left the shop, just a standard stinger for a front bumper that I notched to fit the rear bumper. I'm sure he could throw them in at minimal cost unwelded or you could find someone around Gasoline Alley to bend ones up for you too.
 
i was just wondering. would like to build my own sliders, but 4xInnovations is probably my best bet. you getting up there anytime
 
If you haven't already welded them on, I would move the hoops out. If you get much force on them they will ding the body panel there, you want room for them to deflect.

Clean runner man!
 
Platteville is about 1.5 hours from my place so it's not a particularly convenient drive from a cost perspective when it only costs like $35 to ship sliders to Indy IIRC.

Negative. We have these things called trees in our area. The trails get pretty tight sometimes. The hoops might be sticking out to far as it is. There is a reason why full size rigs don't go on the trails and stay in the mud pitts in the Midwest.

Then angle the hoops up but move the base over, the point is if they get hit the bottom is gonna crush the body panel if it's sitting flush like that.

I put them on an angle like I did so that I can slide past trees smoothly in the transition from slider to tire to hoop. There is a pretty decent amount of room at the base for it to bend before body contact. And if I do manage to bend it into the body then the damage caused by it is probably moot considering the damage I was prolly going to do without it anyway. Definitely a different style of wheeling than out west
 
Added some lower control arm skids made out of 1x1x1/4" angle iron today. Welded one side totally up and stitched the second. Cheap and effective was the name of the game

Snowy, Thanks for that last pic of the rear bumper hoops. Before that close-up, I was in total agreement with Sniv. It looked like any deflection in that hoop would bend sheet metal. Regardless of the part of the country you wheel in. Now we see that you have more clearance than earlier pictures seemed to show.

With the repeat business you have given them, I'm guessing you have been happy with 4XInnovations. Glad to hear. I will be getting front plate bumper and sliders soon. Live in No. Minn. Nice that I can drive to pick them up.

im digging the bulid so far man, can you post more pictures of the 4xinnovatios rear bumper? like side view from about 10 feet away showing the whole truck and how it is with it? i really like my front i got from them and really want a rear, i just wish they had more pictures up.

I'll snag a pic tomorrow morning from that angle, need to touch up the paint pretty badly after the last trip out. I took some fairly hard hits on it and have zero issues whatsoever.

For some viewing entertainment...





Didn't take too many pictures on this run, mostly trail riding with a big group so I left it up to the others.

In other news I got my Engo 9000 with synthetic line installed. $430 shipped to my door with a wireless remote and I hear good things about it so I'll form an opinion with time. Just had to trim off the bottom support post and part of the last fin to make it fit. Thanks to [MENTION=85167]jmildoc[/MENTION] and [MENTION=75483]Millerad1651[/MENTION] for the heated garage and booze to get it installed :D



I've also got some OME 883's waiting to be installed, my 882's have sagged pretty badly over the past 6 years since I originally put my lift on. Bought some TG diff armor and low profile plugs as well that I need to burn on. I don't think that you can retain the stock 3rd gen parking brake with it but I'm an auto and my parking brake is non functional so I am just going to remove the cable to make way for the armor

Ask and you receive...it's been really crappy wether here lately so that's why it took so long. If you want any other angles just let me know



Got my 883's installed today as well, bumped up the front end by 1.5-1.75" over my old 882's. What an absolute PITA to do by yourself reusing your struts. Totally forgot how much that sucked since I first did my lift
