"Clunking" noise from rear after lift install

So I had a lift installed this weekend (Rough Country, please keep all jokes to yourself). It turned into a nightmare with several other parts having to be replaced. I got it back today, and now it's making a clunking noise from the rear when going over bumps. The passenger side rear sway bar end link was replaced, but they said the drivers side was ok. When it's sitting still, if I push up and down on the hitch it makes the clunking noise.

Any ideas?

I'm hoping it's not another major repair. I've about had it with this thing after all that went wrong this weekend.

i have a similar noise....it only happened after the lift

i thought it was my spare tire hitch cable but i removed that entirely and still get a "noise"////


my assumption is that it is my 9 wrap coils or my Pan Hard bar or my sway bar links knocking into the frame even though i have extended ones from Mstudt
 
So the install went a little ----- Rough ----, did it?

Not much to clunk back there. Check both end links for play, check the shocks for security and while you're in there make sure your control arms are good. May have loosened them to install the lift.
 
Yes, it was very "rough".

At this point I'm regretting doing all this. Should have just left it alone.

lay underneath with a flash light, while someone pushes on the bumper. you should be able to see whatever is moving.
 
I had a clunking noise. Ended up being that I didnt get one of the nuts torqued down enough on one of the rear shocks, up top.
 
My buddy has the same lift without any noises so it's not an, "every rough country lift has a clunk" issue.
As mentioned ensure sway bar bushings are good and tightened down, control/ pan hard bar bushings are good, as well make sure both shocks are tightened down a good amount in the rear. The top mount bolt on the shocks are a PIA to torque down and may have not been tightened enough.
 
No one with me right now so I can't move it and look.

Sway bar end links are tight, control arms look good.

Hard to get up in there while laying on the ground to check the upper mounts on the shocks. But I did notice if I grab the shock and try to pull it back and forth, sideways, it seems there is a little movement.

Found the problem.

The shop that I had do the install, since I didn't want to deal with the bits of rust myself, neglected to install a few key parts.

After getting the truck back the first time and noticing the passenger side sway bar end link was missing, it still wasn't right even after fixing the sway bar end link.

After looking around under it and not finding anything since it's incredibly awkward to get up under there, I took it to a family friends shop to have him check over the other shops poor work.

The first shop did not install the bushings on the top of the shocks!!!

The nut would run out of threads when attempting to tighten it down since the upper bushings weren't in there at all and it had nothing to tighten down onto.

So the truck is finally back on the road and all is well again. I'm pleasantly surprised with the ride of the Rough Country lift honestly. Granted, my other car is very low and on coil overs, but still.

IT'S FIXED!!! :playball:

After everything I went through the past week to get this thing back on the road, I'm not even worried about contacting them. It was such a bad experience I'm just glad it's over with. I highly doubt they would do anything about it just based on how they conducted their business otherwise. I'll just write some nasty reviews online and tell everyone I know to avoid them like the plague.

If you have an issue with a shop you bring it to them. We are all human and make mistakes. You give them an opportunity to fix the issue. How do they know he had the issue when he had it fixed. They wont give him any money back.
 
I swear I made a thread about this???????????, I have the same problem after I installed my toytec superflex coils. My problem is I have coil slap, never thought about it until I really inspected the coils and did some research, also may not seem like it but get under and re tighten your rear UCA and LCA, mines was a bit loose which got rid of most of the clunk, anyway here is a vid my what mines sounded like http://youtu.be/20IzIVtp_Kk

i purposely didn't run my super flex coils and got 9 wraps instead...

however i STILL have a significant clunk when i hit bumps or go into a driveway from my rear axel area....

never had this before my lift... and my shocks are pretty tight
