WOW!
Insane day.
So a little while ago, I was on cardomain.com checking out the articles. Sometimes they post some cool stuff, a lot of times it may just be buried between ricers.
I entered a contest called the Castrol Edge: Unlock Your Performance contest. They basically judge rides and award someone who has done the most to unlock their performance.
Well enough bullshitting around, I won the Castrol Edge: Unlock Your Performance contest!
I get $500 and a case of Castrol Edge. They will send a host and do a filmed interview with me and my 4Runner. They are coming on Wednesday to film it. I will definitely post it! I am quite surprised they chose my 4Runner out of so many rides. I can finally get that new windshield/wipers. Any suggestions as to what I should do with the remaining $300?

Congrats COB!! I 2nd Driffter's suggestion on the 4x4 conversion. Your runner is so sick now I think I would rather convert it than get a new one if I was you. You've put too much blood, sweat, and tears into it now!

Thats great that you won you have done a great job on your runner. $300 is a start on collecting parts for that 4x4 mod. cant wait to see your vid.
What parts do I need? It's a ton of stuff and a lot of money, I can see it...
I'd need hub spindles, transfer case, a new trans mount, CV's and axles, new shifter, I'm sure some sort of ECM, new gauge cluster, driveshaft(s), 4.56 front diff... this would be one hell of a pricey modification. I guess you guys are right, collect, and over time, it won't dent me so hard.
Avoid all the ECM, vacuum crap, go SAS!
Yeah I'm half messin... What are these guys always saying on here..? Do it right the first time! LOL I get it though. I have lots of plans for my runner, all held up by money.
Yeah, seriously hah. It's like the 4WD conversion isn't hard enough... I'm not gonna go too far.
Man, I am still wondering how the weight will be and gas mileage after the fact...
well if u are gonna stay with stock tiresize which is 265/70/16 or 265/75/16 ur gas mileage would be 14-16 in city 19-21 on hwy, weight for stock 4wd runner is 4900 or something i cant remember.
I've already got 265/70/17s, which are just about the same as 265/75/16.
The weight will go up about another 200lbs, I can imagine between the transfer case and diffs and all. It's like having another person with at all times, and well with a 4 cylinder engine, that's a lot to think about.
wow man, i love your 4R! i can remember looking at your ride on cardomain and seeing t4r.org. i was like i wonder what that f that is? now i'm on this site everyday, thanks for posting that and thanks for inspiring me so much do mods and change my 4R!
the shoot for the contest is tomorrow.
In other news, I am now looking for a 4th Gen for my mom now that this happened to her van this morning:
what a day...
well at least the new runner ur mom is getting is gonna be way safer. look at the size of the damage, i think our 3rd gens with metal bumpers worst damage would be dented bumper since the ride is higher
