Love the graphite wheels, gonna use that pic to sell my wife on painting mine. I wasn't sold on the idea of the graphite wheels against the green paint, but it looks great!

Just wondering, cause we had a Tacoma at our house a long time looking for a 2.7 block for under 2 grand, sent one of the balancers through the block, I was trying to find some information on whether removing them effects longevity on a boosted motor. Didn't even know they added power.

I've got the forum set up to 40 posts per page, so it's probably one or two pages back for you.

Duplicolor Graphite HWP102, a common choice. I did not clear and only did one coat. I lay coats on thick though. I have actually painted 3 sets of wheels with this paint in the last week, each required sanding. The wheels on my 3rd gen were easiest to paint since the original finish didn't need to be dealt with.

I painted some 3rd gen 5-stars for my friend David, the paint bubbled a bit and needed to be completely stripped bare for recoating.

Thanks bro. Yes, I do not have any interest in the vehicle beyond a few drives with the top down. Also gonna play with the tires before changing them (worn out), I want to experience the infamous Mustang snap.

Honestly, it's a very poorly engineered car... solid rear axle? Like my truck? WTF? haha.

As far as my 4Runner goes, the funds will fix my some issues I've been having, and will fund an extra project I've been trying to get off the ground. Details when I have everything in my hands.

What order did you go? Aircraft stripper first or sand?

Start with the aircraft stripper. (I also had to remove an additional coat of gunmetal paint, as the first coat on this wheel had some runs and a few bubbles) After 10 minutes, you'll get something like this:

After a good wash with the power washer, I was down to this

A few more coats of aircraft stripper:

Keep applying until all of the paint comes loose. You'll eventually end up with a tiny bit of extra finish that you'll have to sand off. I sanded the freshly stripped wheel using 220 grit sandpaper to get here:

Clean it off one last time with the hose, dry it off, and then wipe it down with mineral spirits to remove any dust. Make sure the wheel is dry as a bone, then feel free to paint:

His skills are epic... I hope to fulfill my dream of moving to CO and learn some of his know how.

We can go whenever you want, especially since my weekdays are free until Jan 22. I work weekends though. I just went out last night and tonight so my friends could hike up to Santiago peak. Unfortunately Holy Jim isn't much more than a 2WD trail anymore. There's some fun stuff for 4x4s, but most obstacles are either way too challenging or blocked off... Really blows.

Although a snow run up in Big Bear or Arrowhead would be killer
