Been daily driving my 3rd gen, currently at 213k miles.
Recent things: Oil and filter change, replaced a leaking vacuum plug for the 2nd gen EGR solenoid I've been using.
A little while ago, you may recall my mentioning of this. Big interior refresh!
New: Cargo panels, floor mats, rear cargo mat, floor trim, b pillar trim, cupholders, center console lid, driver's seat belt, kick panels, fuse panel cover, wheel well carpets, and bolt covers.
This is all the old shit but you can see how much was replaced.
Soon: Repaint rear bumper/sliders. Strip flares and paint. Clay/Buff/Wax. My roof is beginning to oxidize so I'm keeping that sunroof install in mind.

NICE! I could use some of those refresh items! lol! The joy's of using my SUV as a truck... lol! Glad I have the Taco now, to put lumber and other bigger stuff in!

Someone traded in an 02 SR5. Not common to see one of those come in the dealer. A little swappy swappy never hurt lol

I love this truck. It's my favorite vehicle of the 3 projects I own. When it comes down to it, though, I never really felt comfortable messing with much under the hood. I didn't trust myself to learn on such a properly running vehicle. Long story short, I don't want to **** anything up.
After building up my turbo truck, which is very similar under the hood to my 3rd gen, I have confidence to start messing with some things.
I've been pondering pulling the 3RZ and rebuilding for a solid performance motor. It won't be soon, as I don't have nearly what I would want to spend.
Anyway, I'm expecting motor upgrades to soon become part of this build thread. No time frame at all, really, but I'm getting the itch. Did I ever mention this thing is slow as balls? I'm getting good power from this motor, but the truck is only getting heavier.
I had some free time today. I've never taken much thought to the vacuum lines, even though I've messed with them a ton of times. The EGR solenoid routing was especially unnecessary. With all these extra silicone lines from my other build, well...

It's the small things that count. I've been a fan of your 4runner, and am sure you are more than capable to work on her. Don't be too worried about working on the engine mate! We have a 65 mustang that was running perfect with an inline 6, one day we decided to take it out and stick a 302 v8 in her (as an early restore), just for fun (while it ran perfectly). We learned had fun. That's what it's all about! Again been a fan of your 4runner and glad to see you are still working on her!

Thanks man. Sounds like a sweet project, thank you for the inspiration. I don't know much about those cars but I can imagine a V8 swap would be a hell of an upgrade! haha.
Daily driver duty still. 213,800 miles on the clock.
First note: My PIAA 580 relay has been shipped! I don't know what it was, but for some reason the old one crapped out and wouldn't work unless you gave it a little smack.
Broke my right front sway bar endlink. More pissed about buying another set of bushings than anything.
Took out the battery. The stress from the weight hasn't taken lightly to the off-road abuse. That's a crack running from the front of the battery around the battery tray.

My friend Chad, who is also my coworker and daily drives a supercharged 2002 Tacoma 5spd 4x4, welded up the crack at work for me.
He was a little embarrassed and asked that I not show the finished product lol... welders.

I think I would eat off the floor of that MB garage. I'd hate to even ask the general hourly labor cost they charge to fix MBs.

For some reason I love these two pictures, specially the one with the hood up. Let your welder friend he has nothing to be ashamed of, I sure would love the see the fix!

I don't think I've ever owned the proper size battery before lol. Well we have really powerful batteries at work with employee prices far better than anything I could get in a store... piece of wood bridged the gap pretty well. The zipties hold the wood to the mount. May not be the prettiest thing but I sure love having 1150A and 800CCA. Debating relocation into the cab whenever I get around to that roll bar, cuz yeah apparently it's pretty heavy lol.
Hahaha last I remember it's $155/hr labor rate.
Haha I'll ask him if I can post a pic of it but he really seemed against the idea.

Hey man I've started going through your 1st Gen build and wanted to say it is awesome!
Btw how is the heat treating you? I was in Laguna near the 241 on Monday and it was killer hot. Then on Tuesday I was near the Spectrum and it was a really nice day. But wow Monday was hot.

Thanks dude. yeah I got that confirmation email and it said 2nd gen, haha i chuckled when I saw it changed with the little "edited by" at the bottom.
The heat hasn't been too bad. Monday was the hottest it's been in a looooong time though, definitely. Thankfully the 3rd gen has air conditioning. Funny cuz I usually make it a point not to use A/C. Monday was a tank top and shorts day for sure.
What were you doing around these parts? Not in your 3rd gen I figure?

I'm sorry man, I know I've been putting it off a while now. I'm down for a meetup but I have to do weekdays only, and even that's hard with school. Fridays about my only free day. It'd be cool to get us and a few SoCal guys in on a Friday run.
The fender apron cracking was one of the main reasons I haven't wheeled it in a while, so thankfully that's somewhat solved. Was scared of losing my whole fender apron + battery in an inopportune place.
You're the only one I think who keeps tabs on that probe build other than mikebontoft, but I'm hoping to get that shit on the road soon and save some gas money for 3rd gen maintenance. I love the truck but it really shouldn't be my DD anymore

Bought a turn signal stalk with fog switch and a tail light converter box from LionsDen2100
Installed but still not wired. My truck is a base model and did not come prewired from factory at all.
Old one (dirty one) only put out a running light signal. Haven't tested the new one yet but I'm hoping the signals and the brake lights work.
