Aligned and ready to go, time for a test run out to Hesperia and Big Bear to grab some 4Runner wheels.
Not before the front end got a little wiley on the highway, and I pulled over to find this!

55013403766_a86ff407e7_b.jpg

Somehow I didn’t lose the entire wheel and managed to pull over with ZERO lug nuts on the front left. Stole a couple lugs from the other wheels and headed straight to the auto parts store.

The alignment came out of spec again after the blowout incident, so I had installed some new tie rod adjustment sleeves before loading it up on a trailer to take to the shop once more.

Also loaded up some other wheels for the 4Runner.

My dad had a 1992 Pickup 2WD when I was growing up. He had a Grant Formula GT wheel with a gold horn button.

I found a wheel of the same vintage from a VW guy, and got a gold button with spacer from another seller.

Next up is some audio. The truck has 4” rockford fosgate R14’s in the original dash locations, using 4Runner speaker boxes.

I have been sitting on some 2nd gen 4Runner rear speaker boxes for some time and finally got to making work with the truck.

The original amp was gutted from the box and the 2 ohm speakers were removed.

After some Dremel work, the box fits a rockford fosgate R1525 5.25” speaker.

Stock on the left and then modified on the right.

55013650834_e2d8da0126_b.jpg

View of inside modified box, amp gutted out. I cut the wires from the amp to use with the positive and negative on the speaker, and the main plug for the box itself.

55013703790_3fc382a52a_b.jpg

The amp wiring actually matched the OEM radio harness rear speaker plug. I repinned some connectors to use with them and retain the original box plugs.

New parts rig has landed! 1995 4Runner 2WD Auto with 3VZ-FE. Rust free and straight body. Actually very clean.

Blown head gasket. Motor is sold already and the rest of it is free. It will donate quite a lot to the 2-door and my 89 pickup.

The 89 pickup will receive the majority of the interior body harness complete with integration relay. The truck will also get the power window motors/regulators, power lock actuators, and will finally have the door chime and light reminders. The entire heater core, blower assembly, and air conditioning system will be transplanted as well.

The cluster is cable driven in this 95 so it would be compatible with the 89 (which has the original 2-door cluster currently installed), so I'll hang onto that. The steering tilt column and driver dash vent tube will also be saved, and I already have a blue lower dash with crotch cooler from a 4Runner.
