Thanks man. The Hagerty people are pretty good, they prepared a comprehensive estimate with reasonable costs. I took their offer, and at the moment I have already consulted a highly skilled and experienced friend to repair every inch of the body. He did the bodywork on my 99 4Runner back in 2011, his work is top notch.
I promise you, Jack, there will be a lot of very good updates coming this year. There's some great things in store. Thank you so much.
The best part was that her passenger owned a 240SX, he was asking many questions about the Supra. Surely, she is getting plenty of crap from her friends lol

Can't wait until this thing is painted and looking proper. This will be a good spot (among many!) for photos. The body work will be starting within the next month. The quarters, jambs, and side skirts are going to be repaired following the body kit damage, plus the dents will all be removed. More to come later.
The majority of the R154 swap parts are in. The car is going to need a longer shifter extension than the one I already have, so that's about all that's left. I'm also thinking about ordering the OE shifter tunnel piece, along with a clock spring and a power steering pump.

Marlin crawler VSS converter

Always wanted a Supra, but they are priced into oblivion now, so I have a 1st gen IS300 manual that will be getting the turbo treatment soon to kick around in during the summers.

Hey brother, thank you for the sub and the kind words! The MK3's are definitely underrated cars, shame they sit in the shadow of their more popular MK4 brethren. Would you ever consider getting back into the Supra game?

Hey man, yeah the updates are happening, but I've been slacking on posting! Working 7 days a week at the moment... gonna post a big one today when I'm done writing it up. Uploading some 590 photos now, lol!
What happened to the 3rd gen? IS300's are really awesome cars, definitely loads of potential there! Manual already, too, that's a rarity for sure.
You turboing the NA motor or swapping the VVTi 2JZ-GTE?

Look forward to the pictures! I am hopefully getting the IS300 repainted (in its factory black) in the next few weeks, so was curious to see the process of how yours has turned out.
It has about 100k miles on it now, lowered on BC racing coilovers, few other minor mods.
As for the motor, the plan is to build up an extra IS300 engine with the GTE internals for boost. It is rare to find an IS300 with a stock manual transmission indeed, the problem is it won't hold up to any major power. I am in the same boat as you where the V160's are so expensive now that they aren't worth chasing. I have considered an R154, but up here at least they are pretty pricey as well. I have been reading a lot about the T56 Magnum route and am leaning over to that option.
As for the 3rd gen, it was a stupid move on my part to sell it, I have tried to buy it back but it resides in a different province now. I calculated that I had spent $8k on it, and it needed another $3k or so to be where I wanted it to be. This was for a truck I got essentially for free (from my uncle who bought it new). I already had one project with the IS300, and didn't want my daily driver to be a modded project too. Economically it made sense to get rid of it and I ended up replacing it with a Jetta as a winter beater. Jetta is now gone, and honestly after owning 50+ cars in my life, the one I miss the most is the 4Runner. I had a huge emotional attachment to it, as I was in high school and went with my uncle to the dealership and helped him purchase it new.
It was very clean and had little to no rust on the undercarriage (very rare in Canada). :frusty:

Oh, my car is still a little ways from paint. Body needs attention, and there's still parts that need to be found. You doing a color change or staying with the black?
That has a W58, right? I can understand your predicament there. R154's are sometimes around for reasonable prices, heck I got mine on a forum. Never even considered Tremec since I just can't stand anything from a domestic... the whole domestic mentality... I deal with die hard domestic folks at work all day and they drive me nuts for some reason. Surely it must be a good trans, but I simply refuse to use it... lol. Anyway...
Ah man, sorry to hear about the whole 4Runner/Jetta experience.. We all have to learn the hard way sometimes. Lots of other members sell their rides thinking it's going to be for the best, but they always come back! I don't doubt you really miss it considering you're still on this forum! Hope to hear you get another one in the same condition, but understandably, that sentimental value isn't the same. You'll fall in love all over again, I'm sure of it. A 4Runner and a 4 door Supra, essentially.

Shifter extension done by driftmotion. 4.75” to match MKIV.
The power steering pump had always had a whine to it. It was also showing other signs of malfunction, thus it was time to get that sorted.

Harmonic balancer failed. 2JZ problems….
This was a good time to go with something a bit more… heavy duty. ATI Super damper.

Longer belt since the ATI is an overdrive pulley.
The A/C was begging to be tried out. A vacuum test confirmed the system is capable of holding refrigerant. It’s now charged and working beautifully.
