Code Madness

So lucky I just passed emissions. I've only had the 99 for a week or so--160k automatic 3.4 4x4. A couple of days later in traffic the light of death pops on and so it begins.

P0100
p0110
p0120

How are these three connected? I just finished reading scuba nightmare on ttora and mine is a little different. Truck runs fine. If I change out the MAF sensor will the other two fall into place or do I have to change out more sensors?

p0420
p0440

I know the 420 is probably the rear 02 sensor. How should I track down the 440? I haven't filled up with fuel in a week, but the last time I did for some reason the gas didn't stop and I think went out a vent line on top of the tank, not out the filler neck.

Hmm. MAF (P0100) and Intake Air Temp (P0110) sensors are mounted in the same assembly--IAT sensor is the bulb on the side and MAF are the two wires down the tube. So if you change one, you change both.

However, the P0120 page (attached) gives this hint:

If DTCs P0110, P0115, P0120, P0450 and P1120 are output simultaneously, E2 (sensor ground) may
be open.

So I'd jump all over my E2 ground--location shown in the other doc attached (p36). I'd bet the P0440 might also be involved. This definitely smells like a wiring issue, as all these simultaneous sensor fails are unlikely, IMHO.

Note: These are the pages from the 2002 manual, only one available on line. The '99 is slightly different but that tip is there also. I have paper ones for 1999, and I can scan those, if you need to do detailed circuit troubleshooting. But lets check that ground first. Also check the MAF connector for ground at Pin 2 of the MAF connector (Black/white wire).

I can't seem to find the E2 ground. by the picture it looks like it should by by the side of the battery. Is it under the fuse box?

Sorry for all the wires, i just got this runner and there is all types of things that previous owners on and I'm going through.

Umm, sorry about that. The labeling is not as straightforward as I thought. What is referred to as E2 in the repair manual appears to be what is labelled as EC in the diagram I posted from the wiring manual--which would be the engine ground by the diagnostic plug.

dealing with a hard start when hot. tonight i finally got a p0100, p0110, and a p0120... got any input on this TheDurk ? im so sick of this truck right now i want to push it off a cliff. when its running its typically running good. i found a torn boot on my intake -got K&N sending me a new boot set(only using the K&N CAI tube, not their filters, i have a dry AFe drop in filter in the stock air box). i wrapped that boot with gorilla tape inside and out and it seams to be holding for now, MPG shot back up with that too. fund that yesterday when i cleaned the MAfS. could i have a intermittent faulty MAfS? tonight i swapped it with a friend who has a 98 runner, and both our rigs started up and ran fine. even after i had let mine run got about 15-20min before the swap?

i feel like a cat chasing a laser... i get one thing done, and another pops up! WTF?!!? i promise i will report back as to my final conclusion(even if that means i direct fire on it with a howitzer(105)...
