That is good to hear. What are the suggested measurments to take before/after the lift?

None are necessary but most guys measure the fender heights and some guys also do the running board heights at the front and back.

I just found a whole set with less than 5k miles for $125, all shocks included too (although i'd probably go Bilstein.)

I just finished mounting front coils from a 2012 FJ Trail Teams onto 4Runner Bilstein 5100s. No issues. The plan is to install them on the 4runner in 2 weeks.

Yeah, no issues what-so-ever during install EXCEPT that my FJ front spring colors didn't match anything I could find online. So luckily, one was slightly taller and went on the drivers side. I'll have to check my colors later to post up.

I have an 06 limited V8 without xreas or air suspension. I want to do a slight lift . If i get the fj coils..Is it best to get the bilstein 5100's that fit the tr4? Is there modification needed if the 5100's are for the tr4? Any help or recommendations would be great. thanks

Yes, get the 5100's that are designed for the 4Runner. The FJ coils will fit in them and they will bolt up to a 4Runner without modification.

FJ springs and Bilsteins (the ones for the 4Runner) front and back. The front in this picture is at 1.75" and a 1.5" spacer in the back. I seemed to get 1/2" front and back from the FJ coils. I don't like how much rake there still is so I ordered some Light Racing (SPC) upper control arms to deal with the alignment and I'm going to adjust the struts to the 2.5" setting.

I've got a source on a low-mileage set of FJ springs and shocks (Tokico) ultimately I'd like to get about a 1-1.5" lift out of the deal, but one question I had is would it be better to stick with the stock XREAS shocks or rip them out and put in the standard FJ/Tokico shocks? I'm leaning towards the swap if anything because the FJ springs/shocks are a matched factory set.

If your XREAS is in good shape and you can do the work yourself, I'd put the coils on the stock XREAS. If you're higher mileage and it's time to replace the shocks, I'd go ahead and do the full swap. I ran FJ coils with XREAS and it was great.

Thanks i've done it already. Used the 1.75 setting and like u say its a hair high but id rather that than still have rake. I'll be installing a bull bar then maybe a spacer in back if need be..

I haven't compared those specs, but i would think any difference would be very minor.

So I picked up a set of '07 FJ shocks and springs from a local seller on CL. They were supposedly removed with only 5K miles and have been sitting in his garage all this time. They look practically new. I also picked up a set of 1/4" TT spacers for the fronts. The big thing I'm wrestling with right now is whether or not I want to swap out everything or keep my original XREAS shocks. I have a V8 4wd with 100K and none of my XREAS shocks are leaking as best as I can tell. The main issue, of course, is that if I rip out XREAS, there's no going back, but if I don't, doesn't this complicate the installation procedure? Or w/ 100K on them are the original XREAS shocks probably just getting tired anyway? Difficult for me to tell since I only bought the car 6 months ago. It drives nicely. One thing I will say is that I do plan to do some mild-to-moderate offroading (think Death Valley and Anza Borrego but nothing too gnarly).

Man tough call like they say if it ain't broke ! Not having had the xreas , when I replaced my shocks & coils it was noticeably better , no body lean n the corners & that sort of thing . 100 grand could be time ? Your gonna do it so.......As you say gonna do some overlandering nice to know your setup is brand new ?

I picked these stock 09 fj bilsteins up for $20 w/18k miles on them, will this level out my stock 2007 v6 sr5 4x4 t4r? Maybe with the fj coils?any help greatly appreciated

Does anyone have a write up for the install on FJ suspension with Daystar? I found one when I searched for it, but the pictures are expired. Also, are there any torque specs on the shock bolts/nuts or anywhere else on this install?
