Compiled: FJ Springs Lift Info for 4th gen

Has anyone used new FJ springs on their 4runner? I really don't want used springs and I can get a brand new set of Moog replacements for $133 out the door from advance auto.

I have a 2007 V6 SR5 and plan on setting a set of Bilsteins at 1.75 with no rear spacer. if I get bro lean then I will install a spacer. Rears are tons easier to install than fronts.

Tires are likely going to be 265/70/13 destination AT or BFR rugged terrain. I wanted to go with BFG AT KO and do a straight shameless gaterose close, but I drive a lot of highway miles and road noise and ride are at a premium.

Mine were pretty new... They were take-offs with less than 70 miles. My 5100's are set at 1.75 and pretty level. A little lower in the rear with a full tank.

2013 FJ's, 5100'[email protected], SCS Stealth6, 265/70 Terra Grapplers and a decent amount of rubbing at the fender liners. It's a snug fit all around, I'll definitely have to go up to 2.5 and spacers. Before the wheel/tire swap, it seemed like there was a ton of space. That's not the case. Good thing I didn't go with 275's.

You going to make us guess what size wheels you running?

I did daystar 2.5/1.5 fj coils and bilstiens hd yellows and 285.65.18 and don't have considerable run like everyone says. Just removed the flaps, trimmed the lower edge of bumper and move the liners up a little. Tires are 32.85"tall

No spacers btw wheels are 18x9 with a 0 mm offset

I apologize if this particular info is clearly listed and I’m just not seeing it. But I’m planning on installing the daystar 2.50 front 1.50 rear onto my xreas and the spidertrax 1.25 wheel spacers (all this is in the mail and on the way). I also want to put the JF coils on front and back to give it that extra little bit of lift and firmness. What I’m looking to find out…

- Is it a particularly hard task to get the FJ coils on the front xreas strut and IF I do manage to get them on the struts how difficult is it to get the strut back in place on the Runner?

-Also to anyone who has completed this task, Has it totally messed up your alignment and uca’s?

There is little bits and pieces of this information all over the place but these are the questions I haven’t seen specifically answered yet. I’m learning as I go here so any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Ben, I don not believe it is possible to swap springs without disconnecting Xreas, and once that is done the system will need to be replaced as it is a sealed system. I am sure others that may have kept Xreas will chime in. Depending on how many miles you have you may want to consider removing the system replacing the shocks with Bilstien's add FJ coils then all you would need is the rear 1.5" spacer and that will net you close to 4" lift front and 2+ in the rear.

I removed my Xreas due to leaks and have had my setup for 7 months and just measured everything again tonight. With everything that I have done and 11gals of gas in the tank my truck sits at:

LF = 36 3/8", RF = 36 1/2", LR = 36 7/8", RR = 37 1/8"

As far as my alignment, you can check here:

Good luck on your build.

You should be able to do the no spring compressor method even with xreas (this would allow you to swap springs) and when coupled with loosening the LCA you should have enough wiggle room. Im not certain but it *should* work. I dont think anyone has swapped springs and kept xreas, but you can be the first!

You can do the spring and spacer swap without disconnecting the Xreas system. A lot of members on here and 120 forum have done this. There are a couple links on the first page of this thread explaining this and i think one is a complete right up on how a no spring compressor method.

I am going to be doing this set up on my 4runner in a couple of weeks which is equipped with Xreas except i'm going with cornfed 2/1 kit. Same concept just different spacer size.

As far as UCA's i can't speak from experience as i don't have any yet, but from what i gather the closer you get too or at 3" the harder it can be to get your alignment and everything to spec i think this also depends on what tire size your running etc Hope this helps im new to it too just been doing a lot of forum :surfer: Best way to learn

Dammit Zopperman you beat me to it, Thats because i type like a 5th grader 2 fingers at a time, takes me a hour to write anything lol:smashputer:

Thanks for the feed back. I'm guna keep searching for sum FJ coils and give it a try. A Co worker and the service manager at my work are going to help me install the lift. I'm hoping all three of us put together can get this done Successfully. Even if I can't get the front fj coils on I won't really be out anything because I can eventually install those onto the bilsteins I plan to get in the future. I'll let you all know how it goes.

I cant wait to get all the parts in and get moving on this. :biggrin2:

Ok, so I have the exact vehicle as described in this thread, right down to the color and year (2006 V8 2WD).

I'm about to install 2007 FJ 4x4 springs and Bilstein HD shocks. I'm making myself nuts deciding which Toytec spacer to install in the front -- 1/2" or 1/4". I've read and re-read all of the threads, but still can't decide which one to get.

It seems that the 1/2" (1" net) spacer would be the way to go instead of the DS 1" (2" net) that the guy in the above thread used. I don't plan to install any rear spacers.

If it makes any difference, I will also be installing 265/65-18's.

What would you do?

1/2" on front if you use the hds. Fj springs will add another 1". But if i may ask, Why not 5100s? Also why not an ome 2" spring in the front with no spacer?

I had planned to get 5100's but I scored a killer deal (almost free) on brand new HDs. And I've had the springs sitting in my garage for a year.

Thanks for the suggestion for 1/2" -- do you mean 1/2" net lift or spacer size?
