I mounted them right above the tire in the wheel well to show them off more but I think i might use the mount it came with and put the resi next to the shock because I am rubbing on them at full flex.

:mad2: Just finished 07 FJ Spring install on the front a couple of weeks ago. Got them brand new from RockAuto. Used the no compressor method with only one issue. Passenger side bushings on the LCA were frozen and I had to manhandle the spring & strut. Driver's side was easy. It was looking sweet, had to be more than an inch lift (V6 4x4) as the rake was gone. Unfortunately there is bad news: swapped ends on black ice today and hit a wall. No injuries, just bummed...

After reading all 23 pages of this thread, I think I have it........but I just want to make sure before ordering parts, so please bear with me.
I have a 2006 Sport 2WD V6 with 160k miles on the stock XREAS suspension. Right now the front is sagging big time. I've decided to toss the XREAS and go with 5100's and FJ springs all around. If I set the fronts to 0.85" and don't use a rear spacer, that should get me pretty close to leveled but slightly raked, correct? Thanks in advance.

need a little help guys.
i currently have the daystar 2.5/1.5 and will soon be upgrading to the bilstein 5100s.
next year i will be getting a front bumper and winch. Should i get the fj coils now or the recommended coils for the added weight of the front bumper.
Or will that ride to stiff in the meantime..
I dont want to keep changing out the coils and what not..

IMO you should wait , it'll ride way to stiff w/o the added weight , as many have said here do it once & do it right !

I think so , don't want to do it twice . Don't get me wrong the fj coils are nice but I think with the winch & bumper they won't be enough . But if those are away's out then sure , you know a yr or better, ya .

Quick question. I ordered up new FJ springs and 5100 Bilstein struts/shocks for all four corners. I've already replaced sway bar links recently.
For the most part, has everyone been able to re-use the top plates on the front struts along with any other rubber isolators and hardware that are already installed with the stock SR5 setup, or should I order new hardware and top plates?
Thanks. Plan on knocking this out on a Sunday at work and I won't be able to run out and source new parts if I run into something.

So after 6 years of lurking on this forum I finally put some new hardware on my 4Runner. I now have FJ struts and coils in the front with 3" FJ Rough County spacer lift. Out back I've got 3" FJ Rough County springs with 5100 Bilsteins.
I should have done a before and after measurement. The shock suspension was really sagging up front. I think I gained a solid 3.5" up front maybe even 4". The rear end is up solid 3" I think.
Now it's time to upgrade the old all-terrains

MY FRIEND!!! I need to pick your brain!! i was presented with a a decent deal for a set of red/blue trd fj cruiser shocks/struts. i see thats what you have on your vehicle. any concerns or issues with the switch?

I'm not sure what the red/blue TRD shocks are, I just used the plain black tokico shocks from an 07 FJ. I believe if they are pre-2010 FJ shocks they should be a direct bolt on. I had no issues with my install.

My brother just got a 2014 Tacoma TRD Sport and has already ordered a new OME lift. So his like new front springs and shocks are mine if I want them.
I do. So I see that the Tacoma front springs/shocks will work and the rear shocks will work as well. Just need new rear coils.
Question: I have a Daystar 2.5/1.5 Can I just swap his springs/shocks over and keep my spacer lift as well? Or will this "over lift" my 4runner?

If i remember correctly. I dont believe the rear suspension will work on our 4runners. But the fronts i do believe would be a simple swap. Im looking into building my lift for my truck as well with fj springs (non trail team or trd) with bilsteins.

You should be able use your daystar kit with those springs without any issues as long as their compatible with our 4runners which i think someone posted on here recently that they are. Many on here run that set up with FJ coils, Im not sure the amount of lift you will gain from the Tacoma springs but if they are similar to the FJ's then you'll be pushing 3" up front and might want to think about some after market Upper control arms as you'll be maxed out.

This is what I was thinking... Might just bite the bullet and go for it. Its just too good a deal to pass up brand new shocks and front springs. But between UCAs and new rear coils this is not going to be free. urgh

Alright, i have 2 of 3 needed pieces to perform my next big mod on my vehicle. I have a set of bilsteins adjustable 5100s front and back coming in tonight. I have a set of front and rear 2012 FJ Cruiser springs from work (15miles on them). I am using the new mounts from the FJ suspension. After researching this thread and searching for days even weeks. I plan on setting the struts at the 1.75 notch. NO SPACERS front or back (for now). Keep the SE stock 17's with yokohama geolander 265/65/17 on the truck (for now) If my calculations/research/educated guesses are correct. I should in theory raise the vehicle over all 1-2" but more importantly level out the front? Any info is greatly appreciated.

You are correct sir . It will appear your front is higher with the 265/65s but only because oem tire & wheel well more open !
