Considering a 5th gen SR5 and have questions

But I agree that 4Runner doesn't feel quick, not that i looked for a quick truck, but it's funny that it accelerates to 60mph 2 seconds faster than my previous Ford Escape, but Escape felt actually faster. Don't know how Ford did it - maybe it's because of size or weight not sure.

It also could have been magical pixie dust.

Wow, I know this is your opinion, which I will respect, but it almost looks like a 'troll' post! You bought a vehicle that has been out for a year, you should have known what it was mechanically and the looks physically, and if you bought it well you accept those.

'Soft Offroaders' - are you kidding me? This is not a Highlander or Escape!

Traction Control works perfect - how is it 'all over the place' - please explain that?

Personally I LOVE the steering wheel, I use that bottom middle part to drive all the time, much better than any SUV I have driven.

A-TRAC does not work, since when? Have you seen the videos people have posted?? It has gotten them out of some pretty interesting situations. I personal got stuck (on purpose) and used A-TRAC to get out (testing it), and it work perfect! Sure a locker would help, but that is why there is the TE.

I have had a lot of people compliment my leather package, I know some are not a fan, but everyone I know is.

'Qucik' is a relative term, coming from a sports car, no, coming most most other vehicles I think the 4R is pretty quick, but then again, we did not buy a sports car, did we?

Again, I understand these are your 'feelings/opinions' but I have to say I think you need to find one of the dealerships that will let you take home the car for a weekend to fully test out, not saying that to be rude. That way you can get the full feeling without rushing or having some annoying sales guy with you. Take your time with it and make sure you are 100% next time with whatever you purchase.

I think that was a big part of our experience - we moved to a new town and the closest Toyota dealer had a sales person that was very rude and pushy. We still were interested in the 4Runner, so ended up going to the next city 2 hours away to look at one.

I'm no Troll... My last vehicles have been a 2006 Taco, 2000 Taco, 2002 Rav, 1994 Taco... I live in a town that gets a lot of snow, and my first experience with the traction control was not being able to back into my garage (about a 4% grade) with snow on the ground. The traction control made a bunch of clicking, and my runner didn't move. Put it in 4wd, and still had to take a run at it... and this is only a couple inches of snow. My Taco would wade through 2 foot deep snow like it wasn't there. Oh, and I have studded Goodyear ice tires.

We really wanted to stick with Toyota, as we've had such fantastic service from our old dealer... and the trucks were very reliable. I'm not saying to avoid the 4Runner... really, it's configuration is getting to be rare in the SUV market... body on frame and all... but in review, my thoughts are it it too much money for what is in there. The Limited has a lot more gadgets (and is more $$$) but I would think that for <> $45K, the 'upgrade' 4Runner would have a few more conveniences.

I'm also put off by Toyota charging $200 for the cross rails... give me a break... I have 8000km on the 4Runner now, and need to drive 2 hours to my dealer for repairs, so yet to have them fix an incessant buzzing from the driver's side window area, figure out why the headlights dim when I hit the brakes, and replace 2 of the 3 wiper blades which didn't work right from day 1.

Contrast this to my 06 Taco (made in the USA yet), which had it's first warranty repair at 80,000km... I thought the Runner would be 'perfection' with supposedly coming out of the best factory in Japanland.

You know you can turn TRAC off with just a tap of a button allowing your foot and tires to access 100% of the 4R's 270 horses under the hood when the tires start to slip? Next time (if you have not already) try it without TRAC off.

The whole TRAC thing was sold to be as 'better than a limited slip' . Maybe it needs a bit more aggressive software... We've had 3 feet of snow in the last 3 days, so everything here is either ice or packed snow. Maybe the Trail edition has more brains, but the guts of the drive line are the same, no? I wanted the Trail, but the leather is much easier to deal with carting around a Golden Retriever in the back...

I've got lots of winter left to experiment with the gadgets. I did't want to mess with it, but a lift and some bigger summer shoes might make me miss my Tacoma a bit less...

I think they were referring to A-TRAC, not TRAC. A-TRAC only operates in L4. 4H works best for me in snow, but I've had to slip into L4 and turn on A-TRAC to get through some icy ruts.

Update

UPDATE: - Well I finally received my 2011 Magnetic Gray SR5. Got pretty much a plain Jane one, Bluetooth, Sunroof, Power Cloth seats, Cross bars and mud flaps ... MSRP 35,200 and got a final deal for $31,800 + dealer fee and tax. Thanks for all the comments and help.
