Coolent Puddle

Guys I have a strange issue.....

At the top of my engine at the rear of the intake the valley
collects a small puddle of antifreeze. The truck runs like a top
and runs cool no issues. It does not lose allot of coolent but
coolent on the outside of a engine is never good.

It is a 86 4runner with 209,000 on it.

I am attaching picture to illustrate

any ideals?

There are two coolant hoses running through the air intake by the throttle body. One goes down the bottom and is a real pain to get at without removing the intake plenum, the other goes out the side facing the engine. I believe both hoses then route near the thermostat.

I had a leak on one of those once that caused coolant to spray up and pool on the top of the engine. I had a hell of a time diagnosing a leak with puddles above the engine...

Check those.

just took a look

Just took a look.....

It is hard to tell what hoses run coolent thru the intake and I just
dont see how the coolent could get there....I will keep looking
