Countersteer Type X HELP PLEASE!!!

More info please...did you have any issues with wheels prior to mounting?

My right rear is "football shaped" as the balance guy #3 explained to me aka bent or defective (it still balanced out 100%, but required 2oz inside and 3oz outside at the same spot). Having less then 100 miles on it at the time, I doubt I bent it.

After you mount a wheel its kind of hard to return for a free replacement as it is now "used"

So if the shop you go to is cool they can mount the naked wheel (no rubber or weight) and run a balance + messure the run out (test to see if the wheel is round) if the wheel naked requires no weight and is balanced as it is, the wheel isnt miss shaped (so says dustin from TNwheels)

Finding out you have a bent or defective wheel BEFORE mounting is alot better then finding out after. (what i ment by #1 above) certainly if the only guy who has the rights to sell a certain rim is located cross country (cant just pop in and be like WTF?!?)

Hope that helps clear it up.

Note: the steps i listed are not 100% needed, but if I had to did it over again thats how i would do it.

I would still call the retailer or even the manufacturer direct and complain. Yes, the tire and wheel were mounted. So? YOU could not get that wheel/tire to balance correctly over a SHORT period of time. Kept thinking it was the tire and finally a "tech" discovered, it was a bent wheel from the factory. You should not have to put up with that for the money you paid......just saying.

Be safe.

I really like the look of the konig countersteer x and how light they are. It's a nice offset on the increased tire weight. My concern is the amount of weight used to balance these wheels.
-Did you happen to notice if yours had more than usual amount of weight added to balance?
-Do you think the amount of weight added is because of the build quality? Maybe it’s the combination of the tire.
-Would like to know if you could balance the wheel first to see how much weight is needed and then add the tires and see what the diff is. At least we could see if it’s the wheels that are off.
-I’ve had purchased several aftermarket wheels and never had as much weight added for a balance. Before I buy the countersteer, I would like a piece of mind that the quality of the product is true.

Mine balanced fine using the right adapter. All stick on weights on the inside of the rim. Never heard of any balance problems or defects on these and a bunch of people over on the Taco are running them. Usually it's the tires, especially cheap oem or big AT and MT ones that are out of round or too much rubber on one side that makes it hard to balance. My last set of KM2's had 2 that took a ton of weight(double stacked) on the Mojaves and the X's. My current Duratracs were alot more balanced and thus took alot less balance weights.

1. When balancing incorrectly (hub centric) and using sticky weights (dynamic weight balance) technitions had to "chase weight" and add alot to fake a balance. Note: harper is correct. When balancing these wheels, the wheels should be 100% balanced naked if there is no defects, so you are only balancing the rubber, tpms, ect.

I balanced lug centricly and used static weight balance, 3 out of my 4 wheels have .5oz on the out side and .5oz on the inside, as compaired to the STRIPS of weight needed for the sticky weight method...

2. The weight was an issues cause the first balance wasnt done correctly, and the second balance shows one wheel "bent" which required more weight to balance out correctly.

3. According to dustain at FNwheels the wheels are 100% balanced naked, and if not then they are defective cause they are made to a higher standard.

4. I think the wheels are fine... I just ran into some FML bad luck (happens way to much to me) and morons with 30yrs exp that knew less then someone with 3 days of research...

If i can help one person not go thru what I did then ive done my job here.
Moral of the story do your research... or look at mine :P

Def. when its time for new rubber im just going to go to Duc as well...
SO tired of dealing with morons. :rockthrow:

Same here. All the shops around me I just don't trust. I hear very good things and very bad things about the same shop and I'm not sure which to believe.

Discount tires aren't much help with suspension as expected, but took care of my tire needs.
