Just an aural nuisance or do you have the smells that some get as well?
Mine had it when I first got it (used) @150k. Now past 180k miles and it has not become louder, and I can only hear it when the sound is reflecting off a wall/semi.
Barely hear it, certainly not worth the $2,000+ to fix it. Could be cheaper to DIY, but no way in hell am I touching the (likely) stuck bolts/studs.

Velazquez Auto Care. They supplied the bolts and welded on the new cats too. Awesome job. Would recommend.

Anybody have sound clips of the dt headers with Gibson exhaust? And would you guys get the shorty or long headers?
So I just replaced my passenger side about a week ago. I have not located a crack on the old part. But I really didn't look all that closely. My Toyota Tech buddy thinks it was a warped flange. And not a crack.

We had the same exact though process. Both of my flanges looked very similar to yours and the thought was that rust may be causing deflection/warping of the flange and that was the exhaust leak. I kept the old headers as they looked fine inside and out.
Thinking this might be the case with mine. The tick sounds like its in time with a single cylinder...going to have to get some DT's on order.

An update on my situation:
- mechanic could not find any actual cracks in the manifolds themselves
- he gave me the option to replace only the gaskets, which were nasty with rust / corrosion
- I carefully considered and chose to replace both manifolds anyway (I'd already had parts shipped in and he does great work super cheap, so I want to get anything done by him that I can)
Most importantly - the damn thing is now silent as the night.
So happy.
P.S. I was hoping the cats were dirty such that I might get an MPG bump; nope, they were clean as a whistle.

Interesting. Warped flanges seem like it. That's some thick metal and welds to be cracking around the seams. Those replacement headers would be dope. Smooth curve, transfer into one pipe before the cat. I've sprayed 'em down and getting ready to wrench off and have a looksie. If I get the same result I might put the piece on an anvil, heat with some map and try to straighten by banging or with some high grade bolts onto an equal metal surface as a clamp point. I was about to post asking what type of stainless steel the OEM header is. I guess it would be 304 and 409, effects my choice of shielding gas if I'd be trying a MIG repair. Already passed inspection, so it's not critical unless I try towing again. Reg. gas and a trailer turned my CE light on a couple times during a haul through the weather at grade. It's getting there.

I have a V8. New headers, Y pipe, and cat-back. When attaching cats to Y pipe, I reused gaskets because I didn’t have new ones. Both sides leaked a little causing bank 1 or any 2 codes. New gaskets fixed it after replacing 2 O2 sensors.

I just got an 04 I have the tick, I just figured it was a slight exhaust leak.
Now that I know about the manifolds has anyone welded them before?
Also doe anyone know of a company I can buy 4.7 exhaust flanges from? I have made headers in the past take a lot of time not not super hard.
