crankshaft position error and traction control light

got down to the mid -30 degrees last night and my battery lost charge. After I boosted it, the ecu threw a crankshaft position trouble code and a traction control light that persisted after restarting.
anyone have any ideas? those don't seem like two systems that would ordinarily team up to throw codes....

Did you try clearing the code? Does the truck run ok? If the code clears and the truck runs ok, it is probably only related to the dead battery. My guess is when battery voltage dropped when starting, so did reference voltage to the sensor, that in turn made the sensor send an incorrect signal back to the ECM.

Now if the code does not clear and/or the truck does not run correctly, there may be an issue with the sensor itself or possibly the timing chain jumped a tooth or two.
 
It ran fine after I jumped it, and it seems to have cleared fine, I haven't run it at length since though as I have the battery charger on.
 
What do you have for a battery? We didn't quite hit -30 last night but we have before and my battery was always fine even though I park outside. Might be time to start looking for a new one...
 
stock panasonic still. It has been run dead once, but otherwise fine. I have the pieces for a dual battery setup sitting here, really wish I would have had the time to get it in before it got cold.
 
Just go grab a deep cycle until you get around to doing the dual battery setup. I'm sure you can sell it to one of the other guys in your group for a decent price when you're done with it.
