Crazydubman's 97 limited runner build

Haha ya it's old. Still holds fluid and is aluminum so its good to have around.

The camburg arms should pair very well with the saw's. I have the same exact setup front and rear on the 06 too. Only difference is the rear springs haha.

Im gonna try to clean it up a bit when i get the new inner boots installed. Hopefully the diff drop keeps them alive a little longer.

Looks good Todd, I can't wait to see what your 4runner can do now that it has a proper lift. I think a Hollister shake down run is in order very soon.

Oh for sure Robert. That is the plan.

Still trying to keep it somewhat low so I can leave out some of the preload on the front coils. I want this thing to stuff still. fender height before the front was at 37" with the 1" topouts. Hoping I only need about an inch or two higher. Looking to stay under 39" fender height. That would still leave a little rake with the tire carrier and internal cage and are being added.

I'm thinking March 2nd might work for me. I want to get Dorothy out with us this time though. She has missed the last couple.

I still need to get the bump stops in the rear sorted out though. Hoping the 4wheelparts truck fest will have some sort of deal on Daystar products so I can pick up my 4.5" comp bumps.
Any7 said I should be able to pick up the gas tank skid next week as well. Maybe they can whip up a belly skid in the next couple weeks too.

Damn, I don't think I can make it out on the 2nd. My Fiance is heading to LA for the weekend and I'm on daddy duty. I might be able to bring my daughter along, but I don't know how much fun she'd have. Or have my mom watch her. We'll when it gets closer.

I need to test out the 33's and hopefully by then I'll have the Elite bumper on.

Good stuff. When did you get the 33's? Im not 100% set on the 2nd. Just a suggestion. If your available the Saturday after, that could work too. Need to check schedule but that is a possibility. I need to get out again. Already having withdrawls. Still need to figure out the rear locker issue though....

I got the 33's two weeks ago. BFG AT's with Raceline Renegade 6's in Matte Black, just like yours, but none of that silver stuff... I got the complete set with 90% tread for $600, so I'm stoked on the purchase. I'm rubbing on my front bumper and need to get the new bumper on before I go. I could trim the front bumper, but I'd rather keep it complete since I'll be replacing it.

Yeah the next weekend should work out just fine or the weekend before the 2nd. Doesn't matter to me. I've been wanting to get back as well and find out where I'm rubbing. Hopefully you can get that locker resolved though, I never use mine, but it's nice to have when I do need it.

Thats a pretty good score on the wheels and tires. Congrats.

If your running wheel spacers, you can pull them with the racelines to gain some offset back since they are 4.5BS. I cut my bumper back but I knew it was pretty much going in the scrap bin after I pulled it. Still have it on the side of the house surprisingly along with the tow hitch...

Are your 33's 285's? Shouldn't have too much rubbing. I think my 305's were just enough larger to cause my rubbing issues. Plus MT side lugs tend to be larger than AT's.

Oh and about the locker, I tend to get over confident in my vehicles ability haha. Hence last time out finally getting the chance to use my winch. It is probably one of the relays up front that is the issue. I can jump the locker in the back directly at the solenoid plug but it won't get power through the harness. I need to just spend a day with someone that knows about the locker system and see if we can troubleshoot it.

The Saturday before, Dorothy and I will be in Half Moon Bay doing wedding stuff at the venue so that would be a no go.
We will figure something out though. I want to get Dorothy out there wheelin with me. having the extra height will hopefully help with her taking the wrong line from time to time.

I'm pretty happy with my purchase and they are 285's. I'm not running spacers (might have to for Tundra Brakes) but it's literally a 1/2 inch corner on my bumper thats rubbing. Nothing major for my DD. I'm sure I'll encounter a lot more when I start flexing it out.

Yeah I'm hoping to head up to Jerry's (BAMF) and get the bumper the weekend before the 2nd, so it's better we go after anyways.

Right on Robert.

You will not need spacers when you install the tundra brakes. I just did my swap a couple weeks ago and with the racelines im good with clearance. I will see whether I can snap a couple pictures for you when I get everything back together.

Looking forward to checking out the bumper when you get it.

Man I have been slow to get everything posted haven't I...

Anyways here are the pictures.

I ended up doing coilover and UCA install, rebooted the inner CV's, Diff drop, Oil change plus install my Fumoto quick drain valve, and topped off the front diff.

I'm not gonna lie, it took a while to get everything complete. It wasn't hard just time consuming.

One thing that is a little weird is that with the preset on the coils set with the upper collar threaded down almost 2", there was no height difference in the final outcome... The front is still at 37" ground to fender. Thats the same as it was with the 1" top out on the stock suspension. Seems to me that it should have sat higher from the get go. Either way I can adjust some preload and spin the collar down farther. Only bummer is that I have to unbolt the UCA to do it seeing as on full droop the UCA is right in line of the collar....

Here are some pictures of the install. I don't take many pictures during installs typically as I am too busy getting my hands dirty to step back and grab the camera.

You already saw these but might as well throw them back in the timeline again.

What I started with.

Done and done back on the ground.

As you can see the height is still the same as it was. I will be adjusting them probably Friday evening so I can take it in for alignment first thing Saturday. I think I'm gonna spin down the collars till I have 3" of threads showing.

Anyone have any input on where that should sit me height wise???

Also for those that are wondering about the tundra brake swap and wheel clearance, here is a shot of the spoke clearance on the racelines. they are 4.5 BS.

Also because I can, the first two of the 38's are finally being brought to work to ship down to Jim at ODL for his Sammi buggie. Bummed that I will never be able to put them to use, but I'm glad that Jim will be able to get some use out of them.

Enjoy.

I know I posted up some info about what Any7offroad did for me this go around.

They finally finished up the prototype gas tank skid that they are ready to put in to production.

Intial impressions are awesome and I can't wait to go beat on it in the rocks.

Its all 3/16". All mounting tabs and brackets are welded up for easy install.

there are drain holes along the side and a knotch out of the inside edge to clear my drive shaft which already hits the tank without the skit on full articulated stuff.

The large section on the inner edge is because that is another place my drive shaft makes contact.

With the additional travel I'm getting, things are definitely getting interesting with drive shaft movement. Probably 95% of the 3rd gen owners that purchase this skid will not have the same clearance issues that I am having. I believe Any7Offroad will be making it to my specs so that worst case senario, it will still fit and not have rubbing.

Here are some pics on the ground and installed.

They should be able to start making them to order here soon. They are making a couple small revisions but should be ready to roll here pretty quick.

Next up is a belly skid then full IFS with additional crossmember supports. Should be getting started either Friday or early next week with mocking things up.
The belly skid will be from crossmember to crossmember with all the mounting hardware above the skid. No hardware will be exposed on the bottom side.

Enjoy. :dancin:

Friday I will try to get some pictures of the driveshaft to tank skid clearancing that needed to happen with it fully articulated stuffed. Should show pretty well the need for those sections that were cut out.

Thanks guys. Its a fun project for sure. Going to be adjusting the coils tomorrow after work. Hopefully i can gain the height im looking for with 3" of threads showing above the collars.

I can get a quick measurement of mine tomorrow if you'd like. I think I've got close to 3" of lift.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

That would be great man. With having to pull the upper control arm apart from the spindle just to adjust the height I'd rather not have to do it any more than once.

Why do you have to do that? Can you not get the spanner in there to turn it or something? I just lift my front end up and let the tire hang down low enough that it takes pressure off the coilovers and to where I can still get the spanner in there. It may not be the easiest route cus you can't get full turns but at least you don't have to disassemble anything. I also suggest putting some kind of mark on the adjustment plate so you can count how many full turns you're doing. I'll get some measurements around lunch time for ya.
