The cup for the uniball looks likes it close to contacting the spindle and the truck is on its own weight... When your truck is drooped out does the uniball cup contact and bang on the spindle?

Not sure who this is directed at but, yes it gets really close on my setup with the extended travel swayaways. I will see if I can grab a picture at some point with it drooped out and post them up.

My question was directed towards traumahawk just because he posted those above pictures. But, it its also very helpful if you chime in and share a picture too. You said its very close but does it contact and make noise or no? I've noticed a lot of the uniball UCA's for these trucks seem to have the cup close to contacting the spindle at full droop, while fully compressed the uniball still has lots of travel left. It looks as if the cup was placed within the arm's at the wrong angle.

When I built a custom set of uniball UCA's for one of my other trucks I did the same thing... placed the cup at the wrong angle and it had more than enough room for uptravel but got maxed out too soon for droop causing the cup to hit the spindle. To fix it, I had to rebuild the arms placing the cup at a better angle.

If you look at traumahawk's pictures the truck is on its own weight and the uniball is already almost maxed out. Cant imagine what droop looks like, sounds like, and how its effected.

But once again if you look at the pics the cup is already on a downward angle when truck is sitting on its own weight. IMO the cup should be parallel with the top of the spindle surface when the truck is on its own weight.... that way it has room for up-travel and room for down-travel.

I have never heard anything when the suspension droops out fully.

I have run these arms on my 06 prerunner and never had issues either with noise.

Here is where the uniball sits on my 97 right now at ride height and the 06 is about the same.




The coilovers have about even up and down travel. I dialed in as little lift as I could to somewhat match my rear setup. (running the OME 861's). There is still a substancial rake haha but I love the ride quality with how the front is set up now. Super plush.

Hope that gives you a good shot of where my suspension is dialed in at.

I completely agree that he doesn't have much downtravel at his lift. my 06 used to sit like that, but I basically dialed out all the lift from the coils. (I still have TC lift spindles on that one to get some lift) The ride trememdously improved over where I had it.

A lot of people tend to keep lifting to get rid of rubbing. Most of that is then translated to stiffer ride and not being able to fully compress the suspension when wheeling so you lose travel. I knew I wanted as little lift as possible so I pulled the coils, cycled the suspension and cut where I needed too. I could run stock springs and shocks at this point and still not rub anything. No sense in lifting more than needed.

Yours looks exactly how it should be. How much lift are you running on the coilovers in that pic?

I wonder if traumahawk's is the way it is because he's running 14" coils and then on top of that has some crank on them for even more lift?

Looks like you might have a bit more lift dialed in than me though. I just had mine recharged and the lower joints replaced, and man do they feel nice now haha. Something to think about if yours have been on their awhile without one. Awesome build thread, btw.

Honestly I don't know how much lift I have. No body lift so whatever is there is suspension.

Here is a good shot on fairly flat ground for a reference point.



Mind you they are 305's and a true 33 inches tall

I have very very slight rubbing issues. The rubbing will usually occur when one tire is hanging and the other tire is at full stuff and the rubbing will be at the bottom of the fender liner near the door. I do not have any metal clanking or metal rubbing issues. The arm/ball/socket is at this level because I am running 3 1/2 lift. I tried to find some photos with the front tire stuffed, which happens on every run, but just not captured as much from the rear point of view. Some photos will show the tire stuffed and others will show hang time.

Right on man. I really like my addicted setup. Bumpers are well made, light, have clearance where needed, and strength in the right places.

Well that helps my decision a bit. I was wanting some real world experience with them and I know you "use" yours. It is becoming more and more of a serious option.

UPDATE:

4Runner is at Any7Offroad again for some more work before the wedding. :whoo: Funds are being diverted towards a down payment for a house after. Gotta get everything I can done before the big day. :bolt:

Items on the list:
- Rear tire carrier
- Quarter panel protection
- Rear diff guard
- Lower rear link frame mount reinforcement
- Offset brackets for cargo cover mounts (so I can keep my cargo area covered even with the sub mounted on the shelving)
- Starting the rear swaybar build (they will be building boxed arms off the RuffStuff basic kit blocks) (Frame crossmember for the swaybar will double as a mount for my swing down factory spare tire location gas can holder. Should be able to get three, 4 gal rotopax cans stacked):evil:

Other items not on the list for Any7 but getting done at home:
- Front and rear regear to 4.88's (Front will be installed after wedding, rear will be installed probably late this week or early next)
- Front Trutrac LSD (Sitting in the garage probably till afer the wedding)
- Kenwood V71A Dual band ham radio and external speaker (Installed but need to get pictures)
- Wire up rock lights (Mounted already just need to run power)
- Upper rear links (Looooong overdue. Been sitting for the last 5 months waiting for install)
