Currie Johnny joint/LT rear problem

Or, just drill & tap a hole through one flat on the jam nut. Put a small brass disc in the hole and tighten the set screw.

Problem solved, and it retains full functionality without getting gummed up with Loctite.
Not a bad idea, but that would require everything to come apart... There is an easier solution. I can't imagine needing to adjust them.

Solution

Sat with Mark and brainstormed the issue: with the JJ coming completely out he felt that both threads were compromised so a new LCA was in order. So I removed the old one and installed the new LCA (cranking the jam nuts down hard!) in his lot and had Kendall weld the jam nut in place. They aren't going anywhere!

Damn dude that's some scary sheet. I guess the JJ failed on you from being a little loose and stripped the internal threading on the lca arm. The key is to tighten the crap out that Jam nut when they're set to length and right after installed on the truck. That gives you a little leverage. I used a 12" Large adjustable and pretty much stood on top of it to tighten them down.

I am debating on ditching the JJ's and putting a hiem or Ballistic Fab joint on these puppies. Mine have begin to sound like a rubber ducky dying, even with a recent re greasing and maintenance. Maybe I just need to really grease the crap out of them.

Anyway thanks for sharing!

I use a giant adjustable wrench, find it less cumbersome than the pipe wrench method although both work.
