Cut some wires, now it won't start...Imagine that

Ok, on a 99 Limited, I was stripping various items and decided to take the center dash trim. Then, I decided I would take the plug ends also, that way if I wanted to retrofit it into my 97, that part would be easier. So, I started cutting wires. The battery was disconnected so pretty sure nothing shorted. Are there any wires on the center dash that would cause this? It turns over, just wont start. Security switch maybe? I cant smell fuel at all, so maybe fuel pump fuse? Too much of a coincidence for it not to be related....It started and ran fine.....cut wires on dash.....now it wont start. Thanks.

On the Limited, the switches are on the center dash bezel instead of the console. I cut the ect switch wires, security indicator wires, hazard switch wires, back window switch wires, passenger airbag indicator light wires (airbag light and security light are on the same orange plug on the dash trim bezel) and 12V outlet wires. I don't have a pic at the moment, but that is what I cut. To me, it should be the same as if they were just unplugged but that is not the case here.

Check your fuses, make sure nothing popped, but you will have to look at a schematic because Toyota did conjoin lot's of circuits into single fuses to save space (and cost)

You can also splice the connectors you cut back together 1 by 1 temporarily to see which one allows the truck to start and run.

Good luck

Connect the security wire

That's the only one of the mentioned circuits that could conceivably have an impact. The ECT switch is an SPST so it does not need to be connected. If that doesn't do it, and you are truly stumped, I would verify all the readings on p.76 of the attached '97 EWD for voltage readings at the ECU and at the EFI and COR relays. One of them should be off. Then go from there.

Just to be clear, does it crank and not catch or does it not crank at all?

EDIT: Attachment removed, see below.

Thanks guys for all the replies. Durk, it's a 1999 Limited not a 97 if that matters. Thanks.

Yes it matters. This 2000 diagram should apply. '99 and '00 are pretty much clones. Now it's on page 72.

You didn't answer my question about if it cranks....

Always give your year when asking for electrical help.

Yes, it turns over, it just wont hit. For the record, I said 99 in the first sentence of my first post. No worries, we all miss parts of posts like how I didn't even see the question in your post. Thanks Durk.
