CV Axle Replacement

Also i noticed the boots just may be leaking and not actually be torn...any solution to this?

Still just need to do the re-boot kit. If it's leaking it's only going to get worse with continued driving. The dealership wouldn't be a bad option. I have a shop locally that only does Lexus/Toyota's and they are always cheaper than the dealership. Just get another quote or two elsewhere before you go with the dealership.

The dealer was way too expensive, I did order the reboot kit and got it for $106 with tax and i am going to take my truck to Mainline Overland. They seem awesome and the guy pete i talked to was really nice

Knowing how to (and carrying the tools needed) is very important if you wheel your 4runner. Probably the most broken part on the trail is a CV. Being able to change it on the trail can be the difference of getting home and sleeping on the trail.

Find someone local that can help you do an axle swap and then reboot the torn one and carry it as a spare.

Also, the only somewhat acceptable aftermarket axle are NAPAs. The other store axles are know to bind and break easily (due to cheap steel that is poorly heat treated). OE or OE rebuilds are second best. Lotus Axles are the best. A.D.D. - Lotus Chromoly Axles. - ?96-?02 4Runner and ?95.5-?04 Tacoma - Lotus Development

$106 was for both drivers and passenger CVs, inner & outer?

Glad to hear it will work out for you!
