CV axles - aftermarket for longer travel

One of my inner CV boots is completely ripped from the banded piece. The other boot is leaking bad. My mechanic recommended I just get new axles since I'm at 113,000 miles.

Since I'm running the OW (Radflo) 2.5" suspension at full 3" lift in front, I wonder if the extended travel is what caused my boots to go bad. I started looking for CV axles that will allow for the extended travel. So far all I've found are these very expensive axles:

Ultimate IFS CV Axle Set for Toyota FJ Cruiser ('07 and up), 4 Runner ('03-'09) & Tacoma ('05 and up)

Hoping someone knows of others.

Wow, those look really nice. But then again, they should be for nearly $2k. Thats the only off the shelf one that i know of for our trucks. The other company I hear good things about is CVJ. I'm guessing they could fab up something comparable.

For that much though, you could go through tons if reman axles, and even those have replacement warranties. They're really easy to change too. Of course, I'm guessing not so much fun out in the trail.

Wow, those are awesome. I've recently had the displeasure of experiencing a blown CV axle. I also discovered the weakness of the full time 4WD when I was not able to drive, since I could not simply put it in 2WD. I had both axles replaced last October (yes only 5 months ago). One of them blew apart, the other side leaked the very next day. Not sure whether it is due to the fact that they are not OEM, but both axles needed to be replaced in 5 months and 5k miles. Good thing they were under warranty, but damn. Also looking for other (non $2k) options as well for the future.

I've never used them, but check out CVJ Axles in Colorado. A couple of the 3rd gen guys swear by them.

If you have the coin, those CVs are nearly indestructible.

I have been looking at them but struggled with the price. If you are going through a CV or more a year then i would think just saving the hassle of replacing them would be worth the price.
