CV boots

So i got my lift on today and i managed to tear a cv boot while doing it. does anyone have an idea of what it would cost me if i took it to the dealership? i kno its going to be a lot so are there maybe some tricks to get it to leak less? the leak is where the boot clams to the shaft.

Thanks

I just had all four cv boots replaced and repacked for about $320 with OEM parts done at an independent shop. Dealer quoted about $520. So i guess about half that for one shaft. Not sure if boots are sold in singles or boot kits only.

I assume it's the outer boot since it happened during your lift install so you might be able to get away with just doing one boot with minimal labor.

Actually, if you did the lift yourself, you should be able to replace the half-shaft (the whole cv assembly) as well. The whole half-shaft is about $45 ($60ish shipped) from RockAuto for Cardone Select. There's a write up on swapping it out here somewhere on the boards. Just a few bolts, a little prying.. =)

I know it's a little late now, but you should be able to rent those sockets from any auto parts store. I work at O'Reilly auto parts and we rent 30-36 mm for free along with a bunch of other tools you may only use a few times.

i ended up putting two zip ties on each side cuz now both the pass and driver sides are leaking and it really helped a lot. I kno i can do it myself i just dont have the time. Im moving to east idaho in a week so im just super busy with that.

Thanks guys

Ill post pick of the lift in a min.
