On the way home I stopped decently hard and got a clunking sound, almost exactly the same thing the resevoirs hitting the swaybar was doing, so since I'm swaybar-less I was like WTF was that. Crawled under as soon as I got home and found one driveshaft bolt missing and another completely loose, no idea WTF happened, but I'm really glad my runner let me know something was up instead of leaving me with FWD.

I think it was like a 99 or so, definitely not any newer, it's been a while, all of them I've seen have been the exact same seats apart form some being black, so they should all be the same.
No need for a rear mount in an RZ powered engine bay, we are graced with all the room in the world thankfully.
I just ordered a manifold the other day.
I'll be doing it right the first time, I've got some big items ticked off now, Engine Management, the Turbo itself and the hotside manifold, but I still need the intake manifold, intercooler, wastegate, blowoff valve, injectors, and piping. so I'm probably halfway there realistically.

And yesterday I found something I thought I'd never see, 01 sport hit the yard, I snagged this sweet, sweet baby.
Yep, that's a mint ass scoop insert, the truck got smacked so the hood was f'd, but this is the main part as we all know, so I guess I officially committed to a scoop now, certifit here I come.

Would it be possible to run that turbo without management?
I realise you would not reach optimum gains without management, but if it could be run ... what gain would you see above stock?

This turbo wouldn't be the best, the compressor housing is too big so it's actually gonna have quite a bit of lag. Realistically you're good for about 5PSI on a fully stock untuned 3RZ, which can be achieved with a smaller T25, T3/T4 or TD04 turbo that would have virtually no lag. It's been shown to push right around 175WHP at 5PSI, which isn't bad probably a 35-40Hp gain, but I'm shooting for something around 8-9PSI and looking to crest 200WHP with 35's, and eventually I'll build up a turbo motor and push 15-20PSI to it, and see what it can really do.
Here's a chart from the local company KORacing, this is a stock ECU 2RZ powered taco with their bolt on 5 psi turbo kit.

Next step: setup the extra engine in the shop for mockup, get an oil pan to modify, and get some hoses and fittings all put together, we're getting closer.

Well, looks like it's Christmas in October. Gotta love when you find the deal so good it's impossible to pass up.
This may be the biggest single purchase I've ever made for the Runner.

It's basically a somewhat pieced together KO Racing Enforcer turbo kit.
KO Racing Manifold
KO Racing Downpipe w/ Flex Section
KO Racing intake pipes
K&N Cone Filter
50 Trim Garrett Turbo
Tial MV-S 38MM Wastegate w/ Vband
That's the standard stuff here. It came with a couple nice bonuses too

New Water to Air Intercooler
Spare 2RZ (I think) Oil pan
Turbo Blanket
I'll have to change plans a bit, since the Wastegate and downpipe woin't be compatible with the stuff I'd already bought, but this also seals the fate of my Corona, RZ Turbo swap will be in the future.
I had to do this since I had the MAF adapter now, cold air intake gave me 20HP lol.

Can't wait to see you spoolin'...are you going to run the IC in the pics? I was thinking about one on mine a few years ago, but as little as I drive my Runner methanol will probably do me fine if I crank up the boost. I'd be interested to see the packaging and plumbing if you go with the water to air setup, though. :thumb3:

Maybe. I'm going to buy an Air to air cooler I saved a few months ago and see if it'll fit where it needs to, I'd really prefer the simplicity of it. Worst comes to worst at least I got the water to air cooler for free. Definitely not into the idea of methanol personally, I daily my 4Runner 30 miles a day at a minimum and don't need to be filling up another tank all the time. Going to do all my mockup and hopefully be turbo'd by new years.

First mock up.
Things I know need changed before install:
BOV vented to atmosphere instead of recirculating.
Completely re-do the kinda janky looking air inlet to turbo
Other to-do stuff:
Make sure my Wideband's sensor fits the provided bung
Make up fittings for my oil temp and pressure sensors
Figure out all vacuum routing
Find and weld bung into oil pan
Shopping list:
Apexi Dry Paper Cone Filter
Outerwears cover for said filter
Copper T3 gasket
Copper 4 bolt T4 gasket
