same could be said for you getting in a metal tube and diving a 1000 ft below surface

funny you say that. about 1/2 the people that come to ND for the oil jobs leave right after a major cold snap. just to dam cold
not much different than living in AK, International Falls or Canada.
helps to keep the rift raft out at least.

Not me! Wasn't offered the opportunity to be a submariner. I'd give it a shot but they said no. So I cruise around on a floating city.

I spent 3 yrs on a Submarine. Glad I did it, but back then it was exhausting We once went below Crush Depth, around 2000 ft once. At least death would have been quick

just like normal, except you have to wait about 10-15 mins for things to start to warm up. leather seats warm up in about 1-2 mins at that temp.
have to drive very nice until the trans fluid gets slightly warmer, otherwise it shifts weird and hard.
after 15-20 mins it drives like its above freezing, coolant temp never drops below normal. don't have front grill radiator blocks, block heater (garage queen) and it sits outside during work, never have to wait longer than 5 secs for it to turn over.
worst thing you can do is drive it only 5 miles or less in those temps. since work is a 20-30 min drive one way, I've never had issues except batteries dying after 3-4 years in any vehicle.

Climate varies significantly in southern Canada - which is where most Canadians live (within a couple hundred km of the US border). We don't get the bone chilling cold crap you get out on the prairies (surprisingly Fort McMurray, AB is not as cold as the oilfields in southern Manitoba despite being much further north). A lot of our winter in Nova Scotia bounces around freezing. I'll take it though. No tornados, no weird lethal bugs (for the most part), no earthquakes, pretty boring 4-season weather.

Very low; gas does not freeze or even gel until the temps are wayyyy down. Once the engine is running then cold air only makes for better power. A better question would be: Whats the coldest start logged for anyone on the forum? Then again, that's entirely dependent on which battery you have and more importantly which oil you run. I would still love to see some figures from stock vs. moded on every 4Runner gen........:girl:

i know back in the 90's when i had my 91 cressida, it got way too cold to even take it out of park in an auto transmission. the dam thing threw a CEL just putting it into reverse and man did it shudder when trying to drive.
even had a friend put his clutch thru the floor board and broke it cause it was so cold, they had to bring it inside to warm up since the axles locked up. i think wind chill was around -60F +, was outside for an hour (flight line approach building heater failed) and it took the rest of the day to warm up. never felt that cold to the core every and it hasnt been than bad up here since.
