dash mats

living way out of town I don't have the opportunity to go see dash mats in a store and will be ordering on line

recommended brands, brands to stay away from ?

Is the dash cracked? What's the need for a dash mat?

I think the look like barf and don't stay in place. Your car though.

I have an 02 that the dash has no cracks in, it used to be my wifes dd and she insisted on putting one in, i think she got it at the dealership, but i think it looks fine. Way better than a beat up cracked dash looks, and if it protects it from becoming mess all the better.

Did you have one that covered your vents or something? This one has been on for 8 years and i have never had a problem with defrost or heat at all. So what you talkin bout Willis?

I guess Ill pass on a dash mat, I have had so many cars that the dash cracked within 15 years. since my car is 15+ was just thinking preventative
don't like them, would rather not have one....so wont have one....for at least the next 10 years with this beast

Or you can put your favorite 'dressing' like armorall or whateverall to keep it from drying out. They do appear to be made better than most dash materials though. Luck! :cowboy:

Dash mats are the only practical way to completely eliminate, or nearly completely eliminate, reflections of the surface of the dash in the windshield.
You have to get the flattest, darkest black.
They come with cut outs for the defrost vents, and you can add as many Velcro patches as you need to make them secure.
I'd rather that the dash itself was made out of some magic non-reflective stealth material, but it isn't.
If the windshield was sloped at a steeper angle, we wouldn't get reflections.
The FJ and the Jeep commander are probably the only vehicles in recent years that had an adequately steep windshield angle. And, both were discontinued after five years.

I've had a DashMat Ultimat in Smoke color in my 4runner (moon mist interior) for 2.5 years now. I bought it primarily for the sound deadening characteristics, to help with the other deadening materials I layered elsewhere.

It does not interfere with the windshield vents, the cut outs are perfect.

It does not slide around at all when the velcro is properly applied.

I think it looks good honestly. Not sure what everybody is on about
