Both, one is in my 4Runner other in my porsche

i installed the toyota dashcam just last week, following their instruction. in comparison to my viofo, i actually liked the toyota. i know, it's more expensive but if you buy a 4runner with the camera already installed, it's about $500. i bought it for $250 i think.

i can actually use my cell phone to see the videos using wireless, not bluetooth. you can configure it too from your cell phone and make the adjustment. i like the features too. it beeps 6 times if there was a collision while you are away and it records it too. the hard part is removing the parts to install it. here's a video of my unboxing of the toyota dashcam. I ended up getting the Viofo A129 Plus. It’s now selling for $119.
I’ve set it up on my desk and will install it soon, using the cigarette lighter for power for now.
So far set up was a breeze except you need to redo everything after you update the firmware.

My wife (engineer) did a stupid amount of research before buying one..

"Was originally going to get the Viofo A119 V3, but wanted wifi capability so I can adjust settings and view footage from my phone. So I was going to bump up to the Viofo A129. But then I watched a comparison video and the video quality of the A129 was slightly worse than the A119V3, but the next step up is the A129 Plus. It has wifi, really good video quality, and GPS to show speed & location. There is s an option for dual channel (from & rear cameras), but I only got the single.

I installed a Vofio 129 duo the other day, hardwired with parking mode in a VW. The low voltage protection did not seem to trigger and it completely drained the battery, I see also a lot of other amazon reviews saying that they have the same issue with the hard wire kit.

For my 4runner I'll probably install one of the newer Thinkware cameras that /r/dashcams talk about often. Right now I just have a budget Aukey connected to my over head lights

As a matter of fact, we just tried to leave in the jetta and the battery was dead again. I'm going to try and get a refund for the Viofo parking mode/hard wire kit tonight and try something else. There are many reviews on amazon for the kit from other people with the same issue. I think for anyone checking out the Viofo cameras should consider buying an off brand hard wire/parking mode kit instead of the Viofo branded one

you might have installed the hardwire kit incorrectly. i have the jetta 4 too. one of the wire needs to be connected to a always on connection and the other wire should turn off when you switched off the ignition.

i have the same viofo with hardwire kit installed. my battery did not die so far.

I installed my Viofo A129 today. I ended up using the cig lighter adapter in the glove box and ran the power cable down the passenger A-pillar. Was nervous about pulling covers but it ended up pretty easy and looks clean. I may do a more permanent hardwire down the road.

For a forward-facing recording, I use the Mercylion dashcam. It captures excellent footage and has a wide-angle view for the front. However, if you prefer a budget-friendly option, the Rexing V1 might suit your needs. It records solely the forward view and provides decent image quality without breaking the bank.

I looked through this thread and found no mention of the Cobra Dashcam. Has anyone installed that one?

I have an older wolfbox from about two years ago that I would buy again in a heartbeat. Its a 4k forward video and 1080p rear. I have pulled very clear footage off of it many times. Mine is running off of a 12v cig plug so I don't have the parking collision detection. Rear Camera is mounted inside the cabin, on the ceiling and aligned with where the rear wiper blade drops down to clean the glass nicely so it always has clear view.

Its a solid unit, 10x better than the Chinese knockoffs I used before that had janky power plug ports and failed. My only complaint is maybe 1 out of 20 times I start the car the screen doesn't kick on but is easily fixed by pressing the power button.
