i honestly didn't know what i was getting into when i purchased my "new to me" 03 SR5 V6 as a family car seeing as how i'm starting a family, i stumbled upon this site by happenstance while i was browsing the internet. man, gaterose, LTDSC, momo.75, aha, tayzorz, especially you, and so many other examples of how a 4runner should be that its got me realizing that i can't afford what you guys are able to do your rigs and have started pursuing my degree in electical engineering so not only can i get out of the military but make enough to support my family and expensive addiction. thank you and all the other people on here for giving my stubborn ass the kick i needed to take advantage of the military benefit of a college education.

Sorry I missed your posts and didn't reply right away. telum01, the tire carrier with all that stuff on it swings out so I can open the rear hatch. Gabex35, I use cotton impregnated rubber washers to keep the shackles from clanking around. They're tight enough that the shackles will stay horizontal if I put them there.

Not 4runner related, but what are the 10 or so 2x4's strapped to the roof rack for? And I saw your rig featured on the Icon FB page. Congrats!:rockon:

[MENTION=73341]South-O 4RnR[/MENTION] , Thanks...Good question. It wasn't just a 4Wheelin' and camping trip. Once we were out of the preserve and in BLM land it was also a shootin' trip. The wood was for target stands. Once we were finished with them, we removed all the screws and they became firewood. Thanks for the heads up on the FB page too.

I assume the target sat on the methods during transportation, not while shooting. Nice arsenal.

Lol,,,The spare tire was used just to hold the steel plate for the pic. For transport it was wrapped up and packed away in the storage drawer. As strong and tough as the Method wheel and Toyo M/T are, neither would hold up very well to the 300 gr solid copper 458 Socom and 175 gr 308 rounds we were putting on the plate. :sniper: Even the 2x4's didn't fare very well against all the fragmentation off the plate.

My question was, how often, if ever, do you utilize the 220mhz band of the radio since it only TX in 1w? The version I picked up I believe is not made for the USA market, so I think it only receives. Just wondering if i'll be missing out.
You can do it man! I'm an e-4 and my builds comin along pretty nicely. The trick is to stay debt free, save for life and save just as much for toys!

I've never used the 220mhz range and probably never will. I mostly use frequencies in the mid 100 range.

I love the Mojave Road. I run it at least once if not twice a year. I'm trying to get a few other T4R guys here in Vegas to do it soon. Your group of runners should join.

[MENTION=108126]budsrunner[/MENTION] Check with Robert (my034runner on toyota120.com) if you wanna get in runs with larger groups. He works at Findlay Toyota and is the NVTTORA president. He typically does two Mojave runs a year. One during Easter and another one sometime in the fall.
