Dawg, your 4runner looks great and you've taken it some cool places... I have to ask after reading your build thread, why you spent all that coin on the roof rack though if you don't use it?
I haven't seen it loaded up with anything in any of your pictures... just curious.

Thanks Nate! When I first got the rack I was loading it up with two 5 gallon cans of water, two 5 gallon cans of fuel, a Hi Lift jack, a full size shovel, full size axe and firewood. The adjustable cross bars were nice for space management. The storage space was nice but I did take a hit on a couple of mpg's and there was an increase in wind noise. Also, I wasn't crazy about all that weight up there while negotiating mountain curves and off camber trails with steep drop offs.

After installing the CBI rear bumper I moved the fuel cans and Hi Lift jack down to the bumper. Nowadays I streamline what I pack and try to keep as light as possible (which is pretty hard to do). The full size shovel and axe have been reduce to a folding shovel and a hatchet. The amount of water and firewood I need for 3-4 days in the desert fits inside the cabin.

So why do I keep the roof rack? I've actually thought about removing it and going completely slick top. But I've decided to keep it for the following reasons.

- It holds the 40" Rigid LED light bar very nicely. That is something I definitely use on the trail.

- The storage space is still there in case I need it. I still use it to occasionally transport lumber and other items from Home Depot.

- It's an absolute work of art designed by our very own [MENTION=20116]darkie3495[/MENTION] and fabricated by Jason Perkins.:thumb: Most racks out there are flat. This one follows the curvature of the roofline perfectly.:D

Thanks Eric! Yes, the 16-35 f/2.8 on all the night shots and some of the day shots. I did a lot of switching between the 16-35 and the 24-105. Canon needs to come out with an EF 16-300 L-series. Keep it the same size and weight as the 24-105 and priced under 2k.:D Switching lenses back and forth in the dusty desert can be a pain.

Beautiful pictures and as always the truck is looking awesome. The pic with the 3 trucks facing the setting sun is bada$$.

Really wish I had terrain like that nearby.
 
Nice! That 16-35 is a workhorse. I've had one for a long time now and still use it constantly. I thought a few shots might have been on the 24-105 as well. The sun flare is a little different on that lens. I have that lens, too. The lens I use most for night shots is the Nikon 14-24 f/2.8. I have a sweet little adapter to use it on the Canon mount with manual aperture control.

Thanks Matt. That's actually a night pic and what looks like the sun is a full moon. You can also see the stars in the sky. :)

These two pics were taken around 10pm. Just prior to taking them, it was pitch black. Then the moon busted through the clouds.

The 16-35 is definitely a great lens. The 24-105 takes some pretty good pics too. This was shot a couple weeks ago with the 24-105.

Was looking through your build and was wondering how you packed those 295's in there. Do you have a body lift or did you get your clearance from the bumpers
