Try harder. To take out the housing you have to remove the entire bumper. Check out the repair manual for instructions. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/92594-modifications-write-ups-quick-links-faqs.html

Our turn signals take a 1156 bulb (the kind with the twist in metal base) right? OP have you tried fishing around with a telescoping magnetic pickup tool, or a mini claw pick up tool?

Intruder or harper7, forgive me for being lazy, but did you guys see that it is physically impossible to remove without removing the front bumper cover? I was able to remove my fog light housings by just reaching up and unbolting one screw on my completely stock TE, am I missing some factory coverings? I figure if I can pull the fog lights out, the turn signal housings right next to it should not be toooo much harder?? It's kind of creepy how easy it is to remove lol.
I didn't replace one but when I took the bumper off to install my ARB I took the housings out to sell them and even with the bumper completely off it was kind of a pain. The two clips that hold the DRL/signal housing in are in there pretty good. Think I had to keep one pressed in with a screwdriver while I pressed the other with my fingers. I definitely wouldn't want to have done that with the bumper in place and the fender liner in the way.I remember Intruder replaced one of his too. Try it and you'll see that it tucks in behind the bumper cover on the inboard side and traps it even after the screws are out .
Duck tape a smaller hose to your vacuum, and suck it out?Hey, anyone know how to take out running light/turn signal lens/housing? do not ask me how it happened, but bulb came out of socket. tried to fish it out no luck.:help:
That's a good idea with the magnet and should work!
They are physically impossible to remove without breaking it ,at least on the TE bumper and I tried. Might be possible on a SR5/LE but havn't tried on one of those bumpers. I have an extra set and a rock chipped the edge of one of mine awhile ago and I replaced it and fought trying to get it out from the backside til I gave in and saw it couldn't be done like that.I remember Intruder replaced one of his too. Ya, the fog lights are easy as there is only one screw to remove on the outboard side and it comes out from the backside no problem as the turn signal light holds the inboard side in place . Had them out many times to do the fog HID retrofit.
