daystar installed - ride quality?

I had my daystar spacer kit and spidertrax wheel spacers installed on friday and been driving around town this over the weekend. It looks great, but the ride quality is a bit...well... awkward and I need some feedback if it's what to expect or if something went wrong with the install.

I'm trying to come up with a word to describe the feeling and the only thing that comes into my mind is wobble. When I got over uneven pavement - holes, bumps etc - it feels as if the truck is wobbling. From what I've been reading spacer kits should not change the ride quality and if anything make it a bit more tighter but that's not the case. The steering is tighter, but the suspensions just feels wobbly (I could say shaky, but that word doen't really describe what I feel while driving).

I have to go back to the shop to get the alignment redone - it's pulling to the left, but I'm starting to worry they screwed up something while doing the install. Could it be XREAS? Perhaps something's loose? From what I've noticed so far it feels like wobble is coming from the back.

On Tuesday I had my new P265/70R17 installed and inflated to 32psi. I'll bump them up to about 34, but I doubt that's the problem - same goes for the wheel spacers.

What do you guys think? Normal or something's @#$@ up?

I kinda noticed the same thing except...I really noticed it at highway speeds. It just felt "wobbly" on the freeway. (note I had never driven a lifted truck before) I also noticed that the steering got stiffer with the wheel spacers, but only when in 4WD. It seams to want to return back to center really fast, almost like a FWD car.

I drove my 03 4.5 years stock and 4.5 years with the Daystar lift and I have never noticed any difference in handling or tracking etc. It sounds like your alignment is not right to me.

yup, get your alignment checked. I bet your caster is not high enough. I have mine set to close to 4 deg on both sides. Drives straight as an arrow. I also have SPC UCAs. Before the UCAs, I was not able to dial the caster high enough. Cheers!

I have the Daystar with XREAS suspension and I don't think it rides too much different than prior. It's a touch twitchy I on the freeway I agree, but I don't think it's wobbly at all. My 1.5" wheel spacers are due here next week so I'm not the exact same setup as you currently. you should probably get your rig realigned as suggested....do you have your alignment specs by chance?

I'm going to take a guess and say they disconnected the xreas lines. Seems to be the usual thing that happens.

I just go to work (about 15 miles - highway + roads). Perhaps I was over evaluating stuff on the weekend, but with somewhat fresher mind, it still feels wobbly. On the highway it drives well...I like the heavy feel of the steering, but on roads at lower speeds where there's uneven pavement it's wobbly. I wound't call it twitchy...if anything I'd say "floaty"

The alignment needs to be redone. I don't have the final numbers, but when I get back to my mechanic I'll ask for them.
I was very adamant about the XREAS when they were installing the kit. I explained how it works, where it is and how not to fu$k it up. I was around during the install and didn't see anything leaking from the shocks. I doubt XREAS is screwed, but just to make sure is there any way for me to check it still works?

btw anyone in Ontario with spacer kit installed?

Didn't notice any change in ride quality from factory with my Daystars. If anything it got better.

I don't know anything about X-REAS, but the guy above me could be on to something. Also you might want to check and see if the re-installed your sway bars properly. Could make a difference. You'll probably know more after your alignment.

i'm going to the mechanic at 3pm to get my alignment redone and to check all the bolts. Is there anything in particular I should look for when the truck gets on the lift? Sway bars? XREAS leaks? etc?
