Dealer is giving me a free bumper.

Took the 4runner down for the headlight and driveline TSB. They took care of both replacing both headlights and an all new rear drive shaft no questions asked.

The service manager is bringing it back from a test drive and pulls into a service bay where the forks are sitting off the ground. One of the forks punches right through the front bumper leaving a gaping whole and destroying the clear bra.

They're replacing, painting, and re-clear bra-ing a brand new front bumper. I go in and talk to the manager of the dealership and he says to think about what I think is reasonable compensation for my inconvenience and the rental car that I have to use.

Thoughts about what's reasonable? X number of oil changes? Something else?

It sounds like they are doing everything right. You're getting your truck back as good as new. They're giving you a loaner. And you could even request that they don't put holes in your front bumper (if your state requires) for the license plate. I think your dealership is handling this very well, as they should. I don't know about you, but I'm not exactly the type to take advantage of a situation that is being addressed appropriately.

Maybe some type of TRD accessory and oil changes? Something dressy like a TRD oil cap and rad. cap. Remote start or floor mats? :thumb3: Just throwing out ideas. Yeah I'm not one of those either that is eager to freak out on a dealer that is already correcting the issue.

If I'm feeling really bold I would probably take two free peppermints out of the bowl instead of just one

Agreed. And if you don't demand a bunch of other stuff from them you're almost guaranteed to get stellar service from them in the future because you'll be known as the guy who could've tried to take advantage but didn't.

^^^^ Agreed. But maybe geeting the two front windows tinted would be nice and wouldn't break the bank. That's if you were thinking of having it done anyways?

i would call it even. mistakes happen and they are taking care of it. plus, sounds like they took care of your initial two requests without any problems. i would say you found yourself a good dealer. can you tell us where you are located and what dealer it is?

i'd call things square and chaulk it up to a mistake.

they're taking pretty good care of you. personally, i dont think i'd ask for any extra favours as long as they keep taking care of me the same way in the future.

good dealerships are hard to find.

Totally agree also. In fact, I'd talk to the SM and personally thank him for the good care, and decline any freebies.

:happens:

Easy enough, now that I've settled down some from the shock I think it is fair. I was thinking about if I did make more of a fuss I wouldn't go there anymore for fear of problems from being "that guy." Thanks for the opinions fellas.

My tires even came in today, guess those will have to wait till I get it back.

I'd make a point of letting them know that you really appreciate the service. They get bad feedback all the time, I'm sure they'd like to know that they've earned a repeat customer. And they're probably more likely to remember you and continue to treat you well if you sing their praises to their superiors.
