Dealer tire balancing - I didn't know this.

I was at the dealer the other day and asked them how much to balance using their "roadforce" machine. 18$ if you bring them tires and wheels already mounted.

So im switching out my old rims and wheels and dropping these tires by for a balance. Can't beat $18.

But that doesn't include taxes, fees, labor, materials, hazardous material waste, more labor and Toyota tax. When its all said and done you'll be paying about $500.

Either you're confused or I am. Let me clarify:

I have two sets of tires. One new, one old. Im putting my old on so I can drop off the new ones that are already mounted for a balance.

i figured, but i sometimes pay attention to other things while im typing . . . and i reread what i typed and it confused me. so i thought i'd reiterate
 
I might have to look into this as I just got my BFG's mounted on my LX rims this weekend. I was pumped because it was $40 to mount and balance all 4 rims and tires, but the guy said two of the rims were bent. I doubt that, but I will see how it rides and if I need to I will roadforce them.
 
from what I have experienced, no one has pride when it comes to balancing tires - and the only ones that do charge and arm and a leg. im not sure why, but i know if it were me, i would be proud and precise about what i do. no one likes shoddy work.

They'll still charge you for parts! lol!
 
they'll prob charge me to freakin talk to them by the minute. these are the same guys that wouldnt give me the dang part numbers because i wasnt a "business". now that dealer shouldnt be getting ANY of my business, but its close so i dont have much of a choice.

That's pretty crappy...wouldn't give out part numbers to an individual. I don't get it. So they won't take your money for the parts either? Ha, I bet that wouldn't be a problem.
 
Discount Tire will do it for free as they did on my wife's car and we didn't even buy the tires from them and I have my 4Runner tires rebalanced about 2 years in from new and all for free and I use the same location I've used for almost 20 years now and never had a problem with damaging rims or any other issues.

we dont have one around here, unfortunately.
 
OK. so the Yoko Geolandar MTs are "too aggressive" for the ROADFORCE machine. it kept giving a vibration error. anyways, they did a thorough "static" balance and said that they were pretty well balanced on their own, and needed very little weight.
 
well, seems like its an "attention to detail" issue with the tire balancing. put them back on last night, drove to work this morning, and ZERO vibrations.
