Defiant light bar w/Hella 500's

Light bar was mounted last month and I posted some pics, but now I have the Hella 500's wired - and in VA, you have to wire them to the high-beams. Used an older OEM switch I found on eBay for cheep. Looks pretty good to me and the Hella 500's add ample lighting on trails and the beach when night fishing. Hopefully this helps anyone looking to get the bar or lights. I had the PIAA 510s but they were too small. I also like the Hella lights because they match the high beams well.

Thanks Antman...inspired only by the best! Next in my lineup = Baja Utility rack! I am still debating the Harper7 mod of adding the TE trim (fenders, rockers, bumpers...and handles). We shall see!

Yes....and you make a good point about the switch, it really isnt needed. But, I bought it before realizing I had to connect to the high beams...and just wanted to install it anyway! Wired the power source to the high beam wire...had some help, too...so I cant take full credit

Look great, I have a similar set up. 2 Hella 500 fogs and 2 Hella 500 driving. All converted to HID!

FYI, Ted, you don't need to wire them with high beams in va. As long as you have covers for them for safety inspection. If you don't have covers, they are supposed to cut off with high beams just like the factory ones do.
In any case, if you have trouble with safety inspection, come visit me at my shop.

BTW - y'all notice the blacked out chrome in the front (also on back)? Used the 3m vinyl matte black and that stuff is great...much easier than painting...and a piece of cake to take off if needed.

HAha...yeah I am pretty sure we did it right...guy who helped installs stuff like that for a living...and I only need them on with the high beams anyway in situations when the most light is needed! And thanks for the props...love the setup and the lights helped already on a few occasions in the VA mountains.

The OP did NOT wire them wrong. That's just what VA law requires, unless you have covers. You can wire lights however you want to.
