I agree - I was fairly surprised when I saw the new model. I personally really liked the previous incarnation. I really love my 4runner but the Tahoe has been my dream SUV - I just couldn't justify the cost (to myself) and the fact I have nothing to tow, be it a big family or boat/etc.

I thought the same thing when I saw a red one yesterday, if it wasn't for the addition of the spoiler it may not have crossed my mind, but I thought it looked a lot more like a '15 Limited than what I expect Tahoe to look like. Changed the doors around the windows too.
Yes there are only so many ways to design an SUV, same as trucks, but for the most part (except for the rav4 and crv) they have all significantly differed from each other is style and looks, even though they are all a box

Honestly, the design cues went the other way. The 5th gen went more towards the 2007 Tahoe style than the new Tahoe went towards the 5th gen.
Toyota actually makes another SUV aligned more with the Tahoe called the Sequoia. Funny how I never hear anything about those mentioned here.... It's like they don't exist.

Marketing is everything. Although the sequoia has 10 inches of clearance its not marketed as an off road SUV with this new trd pro crap so they aren't talked about an don't have the cool factor.
With some all terrain tires it would probably be just as good off road as a T4R just be a good bit larger. The frame and engine are certainly more robust.
I bet it even has atrac!

All modern SUVs tend to look alike to me.

And they have huge overhangs and low hanging rocker panels. If you want a huge offroader Toyota makes something called the Land Cruiser if you can also swing an $80,000 price tag. :thumb3:

The dealer we bought our '14 SR5 4R from last yr. gave us a new Sequoia to drive while they were doing dealer add-ons. Had it for 2 days.
Can't speak to off road capabilities, but the Sequoia is very nice out on the open highway. V8 engine - comfy ride.
