Detailed Questions about Lifting.

I am going to be lifting my '99 4WD within the next couple of months. I'm going to be running Sequoia 17's with 285/70 BFG Mud-Terrain KM2's. I've seen many people running the TRD Tundra spring/shock set up on the front with the LC 8 wraps in the rear. According to the 3rd gen lift sticky, it states that the Tundra setup lifts 2.5" and the LC 8 wrap coils lift 4". Why do these people's lifts look even, even with ARB, etc. bumpers on the front? Sorry if I missed important info along the way, but I've searched and searched.

Most people run 7 wraps which give you 3.5" and if you put the adjustable bilsteins at its highest you can get almost 3" lift but ride is harsh. If they look even on 8 wraps that means they where saggy and not giving full 4" lift.

Go to Sonoransteel.com and look at lift pics. Thats 2.5 front and 3.5 rear. They dont look even.

TRD coils alone only yield about 1.75" of lift. You can use a higher perch on bilstein shocks to gain more height. Different year vehicles sat at different heights, stock. The 99 was the tallest and you TRD coils will yield less lift.

FYI, when running 285s, they will rub when fully stuffed. To minimize this, most people run a small body lift too.

Thank you guys for the info. From what I've read, the Tundra/LC setup seems highly sought after from what people say. I would just assume go with the full OME spring/shock setup. Is this not as good of an option as the tundra/LC? I will probably never do any crazy wheeling and actually want the smallest lift possible for the 285's.

The tundra trd shocks/springs up front give you stock ride if you keep the perch down.

I run the ome 881 coils, ome comfort shocks and Sonoran Steel 1" lift sleeves. Gives me 3" front lift cheaper than coil overs and the ride is good. Little stiffer than stock but if rides just fine.

LC springs in rear are soft, ride good and flex like crazy. You could get away with just 3" lift rear ome coils also if you just want to fit 285's. But IMO they look saggy once they get used a little and you add weight to the rear.

I feel like finding 7 wraps and Tundra springs won't be the easiest find. I'm really beginning to consider going with the ToyTec Ultimate lift now, especially since all parts are easily accessible and new. Everything about that kit seems great. Either way, deciding on rear shocks is my dilemma. I always see good info on paring Tundra's with the Bilstein 5100's etc., but never see much on what people pair LC coils with... if I were to come across a pair of LC 7 wraps that is.
