Did anyone add backup camera to SR5

I have 5.0 generation (2012) SR5 with "normal" radio (no fancy screen), and mechanical mirror (no auto dimming). The only thing "better" it has over "lowest possible model" is backup sonars. They are good but I was thinking of adding backup camera. I even bought the set (camera and mirror) but I chickened out when I found that there are no wires on the overhead box I could tap in and I would have to put all the wiring going to the back (lot of plastic to remove).

Now I might change my mind and be brave enough to approach the subject again. Did anyone do that already? Cons, pros? Problems? Gotchas?

I'm looking for input from owners of 5.0 SR5 as this one does not have any camera supporting infrastructure build by factory.

I added a rear camera but it was in conjunction with a new head unit. The wiring is not there to just add one in.
