Did the dealer wax your new 4R?

I confirmed with my dealer that they did not wax my new 4R, to me that is kind of pathetically sad for a new car. I was curious how many of you had the dealer wax theirs, at no charge, just being a 'good dealer'? I guess I know what my Sunday plans are now!

it came with a "first place finish" job, google it for what that means
I plan to start doing my own regular intense wax/wash in april or may when it warms up

Hmmm.... the dealership I dealt with was very nice and fair on all other aspects, I am now let down that they did not wax it, especially seeing all of you had that done! I would really like to see more responces on whos was waxed for free!

NO, by choice. Specified that I didnt want the paint touched at all, including wash, wax or dealer stickers as part of the purchase negotiations. Didnt want the free paint swirl package that the prep would include. Do you really think they are going to do a quality job, use quality materials and supplies, not get the wax on the trim, etc? Maybe I am paranoid, and I do have a silver colored vehicle which can hide the swirls to an extent, but If you have read some of the stories on other enthusiast forums about expensive vehicles being in immediate need of a professional detailing (buffing, polishing) after getting their free dealer prep package, you would stay away too.

Furthermore I did a special order and it took like 5 months to receive the vehicle. One of the benefits is that when buying off the lot, some dealers wash the vehicles sitting there on a daily basis. I wanted to avoid this, again as they would be using improper techniques, dirty sponges, dirty towels, etc, just constantly adding more swirls to the paint. Actually this is much wore than an improper wax job as the swirls are permanent until a proper polishing is performed.

So consider yourself lucky that they didnt wax it for you and if you need some tips, check here.

I refused the dealer detail job. I prefer to do my own which is a full blown detail: Dawn detergent wash to strip the surface of any wax (if any), clay, then a couple of coats of Zaino to start. Then a few more layers over the next few months. Guarantees a swirl free, smooth as glass finish....

Mine came fully detailed, nice considering it as 14 degrees when i picked it up.

How long would that take? I hear Zaino is a painful operation.

With the ZFX accelerator it doesnt take any longer than anything else, unless you go overboard on multiple layering. I find that two or three layers are fine.

I picked up this wax today....

Meguiar's Direct NXT Generation® Tech Wax® 2.0 Paste

Plan to pull it in the heated bay at work tomorrow, wash, dry, then wax it. I will let you know what I think of it when done (and take some real pics since I have dont done so with anything but the cell)

That's what I use and have used for awhile. Easy to use and that clear wet look shine is oh so sweet!

After using just about every wax and polish out there in the last fifty years, I've used Zaino, then tried NXT and now use Turtle Wax ICE for the easiest finish I've ever had on a vehicle, especially a black one!

There's no dust anywhere, I can get it on everything but the glass and it does a better job than anything else I've ever tried. It's also easier to use! As always, YMMV.

I can't remember the last time I had a new car that was waxed by the dealer. Thoroughly cleaned inside and out of course, but not waxed by hand. A couple of dealers I've been to had automatic car wash bays that sprayed on a little wax as part of the wash job, but that really doesn't count.
