anyone know of a good DIY writeup?
Does this take a special tool?

Just changed the fluid so I'm thinking with all the fluid in the rear end is the reason i'm seeing this now

Yep. Follow his write up and you'll be set. Just did mine about a month ago and they're still fine. Never done it before.

Not a difficult job, but if you're going to replace the bearing and all while you're at it then you've got to be sure that the retainer is sitting just right or it won't seal properly. I had a real time with the shop I was dealing with, they couldn't get it right at all. They originally just assumed everything pushed tight up to the bearing. Anyways, some people have used Drcoffee's method and had success, others say he's wrong and toyota is right. You can choose. Either way he's got some measurements and all...
