Differential breather extension questions...

I know how to do the procedure on front and rear diffs, and the breather replacement part (nissan 38323-c601a), but what diameter and length of hose will I need for both axles? I am asking because I realize enough hose is needed to allow for suspension movement.

After searching, I did not find the hose info I need.

I just did the rear and used about 4'6" to route it to the fueling port. I believe it was 1/4" fuel hose. I'm pretty sure it is a bit less length for the front so 8-9ft total should be fine.

Question: is this breather mod for all 3rd generation 4runners? Just wanted to be sure before placing the order. I'm dripping fluid from the rusted pumpkin housing and I'm planning on the JB weld fix for now until I can find a welder to replace. I figured while going this route I might as well get this mod done as well to help it out.

Yes, in fact I believe most or all of the Toyota truck line.

I've got a 3rd gen axle housing, with links.

you'd need to swap your brakes and diff onto it, but it's rust free...

Id you nerd to extend the front differential breather then you need to exted the transfer / tranny breather. The breather is right on too driver side where the transfer and tranny meet. Extend that for worry free water fording

for the fronts they are to the right of the engine (on my 02)…. they aren't very high considering if you take a dip in the water head first…. but they are way higher than the rear axel is.

can't imagine how much higher you could make the front breathers without coming out of the engine bay!

Is it easy to extend it ? Are you guys tucking them high up there somewhere or like making it a upside down U,harder for water to go in a tube that's like bent
