Direct Replacement LED Fog Light Assemblies for 2014 & Other 5th Gens

Also anyone notice that you can't turn the fog lights on without headlights being on?

I'm no fog lights expert, but I thought fog lights are suppose to be on without headlights.

*generalization*

The "fog" lights on the 4R (and most cars for that matter) are not true fog lights - they are driving lights. Hence, they are designed to only come on when you have your headlights on. "True" fog lights will be independent of headlights and have a separate switch.

Also, as noted above, fog lights usually have lenses that cause the light to spread in a wide horizontal pattern (as these LED light do), or they can be that yellow high output light you sometimes see (they don't have to be yellow). But yes, they should be lower than the main lamps and have a focused beam that would keep the light low and wide for slow navigation in fog/heavy rain/snow.

I hate to differ (and definitely not flaming here) on your explanation of what are on the T4R, but, they are not "really" Driving Lights. They may not be "true" Fog Lights but definitely not Driving Lights. (See Definition of Driving Lights below)
We have to have our headlights on to turn on the Fog Lights, but they are on a separate switch. Why would one run Fog Lights without headlights any way, asking myself.
Fog Lights can also have the reflector or refractor instead of the lens to disperse the beam horizontally as well.

Driving Lights are particularly bright lights which improve the range of light beyond what your high beam headlights offer. They help identify obstacles and signs well before they become visible than with normal high beams. They light up the road well ahead of you giving you fair warning of hazards, obstacles, and signs. Driving lights are used along with your high beams to improve your overall visibility and provide a better, safer driving experience.
Fog Lights are perfect if you need a wide beam to illuminate the road immediately ahead of you. They are the perfect choice if you live or drive in areas with considerable fog, rain, or snow where your visibility is impaired and you are forced to drive at slow speeds.

Just light me up :flamethrwoer2:

agree on the beam projection (methods - reflectors and refractors) - as for our "fog" lights - I would honestly just call them...lights, cause they sure don't seem to illumniate much of a road ahead :p could just be the bulbs I guess.

I've heard of driving lights being called both - you're definition and simply additional lights to your low beams. Mini's have them (optional) - quite a few euros for that matter - the mustang has driving lights (two lights in the grill) separate from the fog lamps (in the lower valance), etc. I would put our lamps in this category.

I also had fog lamps on my civic si (set of piaas) that I had switched separately from my low beams and OEM fog lamps (again - driving lights as similar to my explination above) which came in very helpful when driving in blinding snow. Also - "back in the day" before LED DRLs, you would sometimes have your fogs set up on a separate switch from your low beams to run them as "DRLs" and be cool.

going completely off topic - I still don't know why the 10-13 4Rs DRLs are the turn signals...I'm fine with the DRLs being where they're at - but make the turn signals the ambers in the headlight housing - whichever.

Hope you guys get in on those lamps!! gl!!!

My user ID is "bluecookers" and I already purchased with
the 15% discount code because I couldn't wait. :) I would
have waited for the 20% discount for group buy, but the
only time that I have to install them is next week.

Please remove my name from the group buy list. Sorry. :(

I'm very much confused.

I don't know if European regulations are different, buy my Mercedes
has fog lights that can operated independently in the following modes:

(1) front fog lights ON, low-beam OFF, high-beam OFF
(2) front fog lights ON, low-beam ON, high-beam OFF
(3) front fog lights ON, low-beam ON, high-beam ON

Turning on the high-beam does not affect the fog lights, because the fog lights is only turned on/off via selecting it on the light switch. When your
turn off all the lights and lock the car at night, the fog lights come on and
illuminated the front for 30 seconds, then turn off automatically.

On my Toyota and Lexus vehicles, the fog lights can only turn on with low-beam. When high-beam is activated, the fog lights turn off. This is totally different than Mercedes.

On my Chevy truck, the factory fog lights can be operated independently from the low-beam, but they automatically switch off when the high beam is activated.(but not when using flash-to-pass high-beam)

If I had to guess, there is really no strict USDOT regulations.... each manufacturer does its own thing(as long as it's logical and safe)

Here are some shots of the stock Vs Morimoto LED lights. They seem a lot brighter than the factory lights all in all I would say they are a big improvement over the stock flash lights.

Thanks for the comparison shots.....

Can you detail what you had to do to replace the Fog Lights on your 2014 SR5?
Did you have to take the complete front cap off?

Best Regards,

It's actually really easy, for the driver side I just went straight from the bottom and felt around for the 2 screws. Once I located both of the screws and removed them the light slid right out. I did have to take my dremel with the flapper wheel and narrow down the tabs on the lights for them to fit the factory slot. (I think this was posted a few pages back) The passenger side is bit more work since it has a bucket over the light. On this side I just unscrewed the fender liner then pulled it back so I could see the light splash cover AKA "Bucket" . Next I felt around and found two clips on the bucket one on each side. I just kind of squeezed the whole thing and pulled straight back and it released the clips then I pulled down as there is a tab on top much like what holds the light in and it came out. After this it's super easy to get to the light. I did re-install the light cover since the passenger side wheel well is vented hence why there is a splash cover for the light on this side. Make sure and get the connectors in the morimoto plug right. If you switch the positive and negative in the plug you will have to pull the pins back out to get it right. I would suggest looking at the factory light plug before installing the morimoto plugs so you don't get it wrong the first time. If you do you can take a tiny screw driver and stick it in the plug down by the base of the contact pins and pull back the tap and pull the pin back out. Don't ask how I know this?

The lights have a small gap all they way around and seem to set back further than the stock lights. I actually prefer this look over the factory lights also the fact that the housings are darker let them blend in with factory black plastic trim better. It kind of get's rid of the second set of eye balls lol... They actually match the factory headlight housings much better than the stock lights as well. I will test them out in about an hour an a half and post up some more photos. I do really like the way the lights look and they put out a lot more light than the factory lights did on my garage wall so it will be interesting to see tonight. I have to say it's money well spent.

Best Regards,

I want to comment on the brightness of these Morimoto LED foglights.
I haven't installed them, but tonight I hooked them up to a car battery
just to check them out. Don't have time to put them in until next weekend.

Warning: do NOT look directly into them. I also made the mistake of pointing
it at my dog and he freaked out and ran away to the basement.

The first thing that I yelled out was "OH...MY. GOD. These things are ridiculously BRIGHT!"
The beam pattern is also extremely sharp, way better than OEM Toyota's foglights!

TRS did an excellent job with these LED foglights.:bravo::bravo: :bravo::bravo: :bravo::bravo: :bravo::bravo: :bravo::bravo: :bravo::bravo:

The only thing that concerns me a tiny bit is that the wires coming out of them
seem to be really thin. Not sure how long they'll stand up to the harsh winters
and summers in my area. However, TRS does have a 5-year warranty on these
babies, so I'm not too worried.

no problem... I forgot to mention how I got the 15% off. Just use code TOYOTANATION when you check out. :)
Not sure if I'm allowed to post that code here, but we're all Toyota guys, right? :) (if not allowed, please let me know
and I'll edit my post to remove the code)

These LED foglights are so bright... I wonder if TRS can come out with LED low-beam headlight retrofit kits. :)

.

I have to agree the pattern is crazy sharp on my garage wall they did a great job on these lights. I will have to play around with adjustment a bit to get them right. They are set high from the factory so if you are lifted they will be right in most drivers face if they are in a car. When I first tried them they were about even with the lower half of my wifes Honda's Accord windshield in the garage. They will definitely need to be fine tuned to keep from blinding on coming traffic.

Here are some night shots this is with 1500 lumens of led garage lights as well. These lights look as bright if not brighter than the low beams. Notice the sharp line on the lower portion of my Dodge truck I still need to adjust them a bit more.

Here Mr Krinkle is doing what he does best poor little guy is not the brightest.

Installed a set this afternoon into my Shrockworks front bumper and am quite pleased. Brighter than stock, sharp cutoff and direct fitment.
