Here's the report on 4 Runner diagnosis and repairs. The company paid to have it hauled on flatbed 50 miles, covered a rental car (new Camry), a gift card and some cash. I had it taken to the dealer in Lansing Mich.
They pulled the gas tank, blew out the fuel lines, checked the pump output (excellent), the injector readings (excellent), general inspection of the engine, new filters, new plugs and total service of injectors and fuel injection system decarb the whole nine.
The gas company approved all the expenses and I pick up the 4 Runner tomorrow.
The incident of water contaminated gas has become a big deal, I heard it was in the news, many drivers, risk managers are working real hard. Bottom line: it is clear that (but not confirmed) that 1) station attendants got a water in the tanks alarm 2) they called the pump service tech company 3) they continued to sell gas 4) when I got there the tech was in the middle of his checks and they were still pumping gas after he confirmed to me that there was "lots" of water in the tanks 5) I went semi-buck wild and told them they had to do something and stop pumping contaminated fuel into customer vehicles - my 4 Runner was out on the street w/ hood up, dog in the back, wife reading a book.
That's the way it is so far. Service dept says the Toyota is a strong runner and great condition.
